Hello,
I added tubing to my daughter’s Phonak Sky V70 hearing aids today, did it myself. The tubing doesn’t sit close to her head. Is this an issue? What do you think about the overall fit? Any suggestions or opinions?
she says they feel comfortable but I don’t think they look quite right.
Always annoying if that happens, I agree.
You’ve probably made them too short? If the tubing first has to go slightly to the head and then back again away from the head into the canal, then is longer than going straight down. However, looking at the 1st image again, I see that it’s length is even pushing it sideways.
Usually, you take a piece of wire that is strong enough to bent the tubing, insert it into a piece of tubing and bent that all the ways you would like it to go. Then you gently heat the finished form with a hair dryer or air gun, let it cool, take out the wire and see whether it retains the form. If it still fits without the wire, you cut off the excess tubing to fit it to the earmold and hearing aid.
Obviously, this takes some experience, so it’s nice to have some spare tubing to gain that.
As it is mostly for aesthetic reasons, you’ll find a lot of people skip this part.
Personally, I have found that a lot of social interaction is easier if you have a clear symbol indicating that you’re hearing impaired. I use the streaming gadgets for that.
I agree with you about probably too short. I think with a little more length and your excellent instructions on contouring the tube, @Scott.toni will have success with proper alignment and fit. I’ve seen very reasonable online prices for lengthy coils of tubing for BTE hearing aids.
