Where to buy aids in Bristol / Somerset

Having tried Specsavers in Weston-super-mare with disappointing results I am now looking for a reputable audiologist to supply and fit new aids. Any recommendations gratefully received.

Unfortunately Costco Bristol does not look to have a hearing aid department. Have you tried being fit by your local NHS audiology department? I suppose it could take you a long time to get referred. The local NHS audiology department, might offer a private service too?

Andrew Bird Hearing works out of several locations fairly near you. Not sure if they run a clinic in Weston itself though. Ring the head office in Cheltenham to verify.

Thanks for this. I already have NHS hearing aids but want to go private for various reasons. Not sure if the local NHS audiologists do private consultations but will find out.

Thanks for the recommendation. There is a branch in Clevedon. Do you have personal experience of Andrew Bird Hearing?

Interesting. Thanks for this.

I know Birdy personally, but I’m not a customer. You might not see him, but one of his Audiologists. As a company, they seem to have an emphasis on fairness and pretty respectable pricing.

Thanks again. I have requested an appointment at Clevedon.

I’m near Wincanton and looked closely at all the chains and spoke with several independent audis in my area. The only one that had anywhere near the level of knowledge I required was Jon Cade at Somerset Hearing near Wellington. Not the cheapest, but definitely the best in my area. Maybe a bit far south for you?

Thanks so much for this. I’m south of WSM so not too far from Rumwell. On the basis of your recommendation and the other reviews I’ve booked for a hearing test. I particularly like the 2 week trial.

I trialled 3 different sets of aids, I was not pressured into a particular brand. Unlike all the other audis I spoke with (and have used), Jon is up to speed with all brands of aid. Most audis seem to only know one or two brands and tend to prefer one (at least in my experience).

Thanks again. Getting free home trials is great but working with a knowledgeable and caring audi is crucial.
