Where do you sell your hearing aids?

Hi all,

I was just wondering where you all sell your unused hearing aids? I was thinking of using eBay but i’m not sure if I trust that people will be honest.

I have been giving Oticon Xeed by the NHS and they are excellent so I now have a brand new pair of Phonak Paradise p90 I do not need.

Any advice on selling them “or tips” would be great.

Hi Terry,

I’ve sold hearing aids on Ebay just recently. You shouldn’t fear it. 2 reasons - it is now free for private sellers and you don’t send the hearing aids until after the buyer pays - ebay holds the money and releases it to you once the buyer receives the goods. It’s a pretty failsafe system in my view.

The other alternatives could be the selling forum on here, or facebook marketplace or another type of selling site, but Ebay reaches a pretty good net of potential buyers.

Anyone know of any places to donate?

Lions Club accepts hearing aid donations in many communities. I see you’re from US so this should be a possibility.

My audiologist, and I’m sure many others, does volunteer work. When I get new aids I give him my old ones to donate.

ebay is very much pro-buyers. They’ve given me my money back (and charged the seller who did not describe his phone accurately) when the buyer refused. Unfortunately, they sometimes force a refund for lying buyers. Over the years I’ve done dozens of ebay transactions, mostly as a buyer. I sold a CD player some years ago for something like $850. Only 2 problems: 1) the seller wildly mid-described a phone, and 2) a reseller had bought a used game in a sealed box - although he was forced to refund my money, he had been cheated himself by the entity he bought the game from.

ebay - not perfect, but not a bad bet.
