Where can I buy a FittingLINK 3.0?

I know I can go wires but I prefer wireless option. I’ve checked ebay already with no luck.

Where can I buy a FittingLink 3.0 unit? I’m surprised there is no Audiologist online store that sells these. If I’m not mistaken, the fittinglink device shouldn’t be considered a medical device. Only gotcha might be Oticon would frown upon it Thus creating problems for that reseller.

Nobody routinely resells these; they need to be purchased from Oticon or Sonic.

Has anybody checked with Buyhear?

If I remember correctly, Tony (Abarsanti) ordered the ExpressLink 3.0 from BuyHear.com, but they ended up sending him the MiniPro kit instead and told him it’s better with the MiniPro because he could use it for any brand HA. I think the ExpressLink is the Oticon wired programming devices. Point is that if BuyHear.com didn’t have the ExpressLink to sell, they most likely don’t have the FittingLink to sell.

I must tell the OP that my audi had issues with the FittingLink after updating my OPNs to the firmware 4.0 and called Oticon support and told her that there’s some issue related to FW 4 with the FittingLink, and told her to use a wired device to program my OPN. Several weeks later after that she still used a wired programming device to program my OPN because she said Oticon hasn’t resolved the FittingLink issue yet.

Another point which the OP probably already knows but it’s worth repeating is that you can’t update firmwares using the FittingLink. Oticon has already released 2 firmwares in less than a year so it’s very likely that firmwares are going to be a regular occurence with the OPN.

I purchased a used FittingLink 3.0 from Ebay about a month ago. When I first used it to connect my Oticon OPN 1 hearing aids the Genie 2 software popped up a window that stated that the firmware on the FittingLink needed to be updated. I told it to go ahead and update it which it did. Once that was done the FittingLink worked without any problems to wirelessly connect my aids so it appears that Oticon has addressed the issue you are referring to with the FittingLink and the 4.0 firmware for the Oticon OPN aids.

Prior to my purchase on Ebay I had ordered a FittingLink from Buyhear but they were having problems getting the device from Oticon (I waited about 2 months) which is why I decided to go ahead and get the used one from Ebay. The price from Buyhear was a breathtaking $450, by the way. If the OP can’t find one available and is willing to pay the price then Buyhear might be an option.

@jferris33 Thanks for this update. It’s very likely that my audi needs a new firmware update on her FittingLink 3.0. However, I don’t think she got the update message like you did. Or maybe she did but ignored it?

How do you get the firmware update then? Through your audi?

In my case I did it myself since I have both the Genie 2 software and a FittingLink 3.0. All I did was plug the FittingLink into a USB connector on my computer and fire up the Genie 2 software. I then told the Genie 2 software to use the FittingLink as the preferred programming device by clicking on Preferences and then Programming Device:

As soon as I selected the FittingLink the Genie 2 software informed me about the need to update the firmware.

You can also invoke the firmware updater manually by clicking on Tools and then Firmware Updater:

Just to be clear;
Genie 2 can update the Firmware on your FittingLINK 3.0 wireless fitting device.
Genie2 cannot update the Firmware on your Opn hearing Aids.

FittingLink 3 costs $400+ direct from Oticon; if BuyHear sold one for $450, there’s basically no profit there. Having said that, I don’t think BuyHear will sell FittingLink 3’s except in extremely rare situations - they are too expensive and difficult to get. I think a MiniPro is probably the best way to go as long as you don’t mind playing with the cables.

Yes, that is correct. Thanks for pointing that out - some people might get confused about it. You will still need an ExpressLink 3.0 or equivalent wired device to update the firmware on your Oticon aids. The OPN firmware cannot be updated wirelessly and requires a wired connection.

Yes, this is what I meant when I asked Jferris although I guess I wasn’t clear. I already knew that he updated the firmware on his FittingLINK 3.0 via USB. I meant to ask if he still had to go to his audi to update the firmware on his OPN.

When I ordered mine in early June from Buyhear they were reluctant to take the order and apologized for the very high price and they also made it clear that it could take quite a while to actually get it from Oticon (they were right).

Have you seen this page? Is this the one you are searching for?

I contacted this vendor several months ago when I was looking for a FittingLink 3.0 and tried to buy one. They informed my via email that they do not sell or ship to the U.S., only to Europe (they are located in Germany). Can’t hurt to ask them again tho.

Another forum member mentioned that he bought his FittingLink 3.0 from a Denmark online store aurem-hearing.com and they shipped to the US. A quick check on their site shows the FittingLink 3.0 being sold out already and run for 300 Euros.

I very recently bought an oticon fittingLink WP-2 and the USB dongle in the kit is actually the fittingLink WP-3 so two in one purchase

so yes fitingLink 2 and 3 in one package, the only thing you don’t get this way is the fittinLink 3.0 desk stand, not that it is a problem.

You do get the fittingLink 2 desk dock and a lead for charging or using for direct connection, the fittingLink 3.0 USB dongle does allow wireless use of the fittingLink 2
