I’ve had the same Captel 840i phone for 18 to 20 years. Probably the basic model CapTel came out with. Over all it works pretty good but just wondering if its now ‘outdated’. I don’t need a lot of bells and whistles.
If there are better caption reading “hard line” phones on the market I’d like to know. And by that something that might have more accurate caption printout and possibly better phone mic amplification. Maybe after twenty years the technology hasn’t changed, but I like to find out if there are better devices to use now.
Also I’m assuming any caption telephone works best with a hard line phone connection? Is that still true with new models? Reason I ask is Verizon charges a lot for a dedicated hard line connection, but I assume that’s still necessary for a fast, some what accurate print out display. I have a fast speed modem, and Apple PC, but assume hard line phone connection is stiill required.
Lastly, since i qualified for the Captel back in early 2000, am i still allowed to get a replacement for free after submitting necessary information?
