Right now I have DigiFocus II (Oticon) in one ear. My other ear is profoundly Deaf so I only wear one. I think DigiFocus is alright however I don’t think it’s good as the first Siemens digital hearing aid I had 6 or 7 years ago. I remember it was quite clear and sharp when wearing it. Maybe it was all in my head. I’m just curious what you guys think of Siemens in general. I see that Siemens Pure 700 has lots of good features. Any personal experience wearing one like this?
I wear Centra Siemens Hearing Aids and I can’t wear Pure Hearing Aids because of my hearing loss. I saw the Pure at my audiologist’s office and it is tiny to use for your ears.

digifocus 2 is a really old instrument…
I purchased two of the Siemens Pure 700 RIC BTE hearing aids from Openfit.com last November. I also got the TEK remote that alllows you to listen to your TV, Stereo or iPOD and connect to a Bluetooth wireless cell phone directly in your hearing aids. The TEK features are great, although the range is limited to about 12-15 feet from the source. I love the features and performance of the hearing aids as well. Having the cell phone audio and TV/Stereo audio piped in directly to the hearing aids is wonderful!
I have a moderate hearing loss in both ears due to being around jet engines too long during my 24-year Air Force career. I also have a moderate case of tinnitus in both ears.
In early January, I began experiencing a loss of volume in the right hearing aid, which after a few days became severe. Since I bought these hearing aids on the Internet, I was forced to send them back t the seller (in Anchorage, Alaska) for repair. I haven’t received them back yet.
My advice to you is to purchase them from a local dealer, or an e-commerce seller who has a service agreement with a local dealer.
I am wearing the Pure 700 BTEs. I am having loads of trouble with feedback when I am sitting at my desk in front of electronic equipment. I’ve been to the audie once and I’m going back on Monday to see if she can eliminate the problem.
On the positive side, they are easy to wear, to the point where you forget they are in your ears. They handle noisy environments like a charm. I can easily wear them on the street, in a car, and even on the subway, which would have been impossible with my old Sonic Innovations Natura 2 CICs.
matura is quite old instrument … the comparison isnt so fair…
but the pure is a good instrument…

Siemens Motions vs Widex Mind
The Motions are one of several new products from Siemens that follows on the Pure. From what I see, it is very similar to the Pure.
The main reason that I got the Motion 700 s instead of the Pure…
the main reason is that they offered on-the-aid controls.
I did not want to always carry around the TEK or remote control.
The two aid communicate with one another so what you set on one is automatically set on the other.
So one aid has the volume control and the other the Program control.
The TEK also provides a frequency control.

I’ve tested the Pure 700; loved the features and thought a good company like Siemens knows what they are doing . . . . wrong!
In the end I was very disappointed with the instrument. Eliminating feedback without eliminating highs was impossible. I went into the tiled mens room at work and feedback everywhere. Lots of other situations as well. My Audi work with them but it became frustrating. Also the sound was just not natural.
The Tek was another big disappointment. Sound quality with cells phones and devices was terrible. Switching devices and using the bluetooth was just not seamless or close.
I’ve switched to the Oticom Dual Connect with Streamer and found it much better in every area. A much better instrument and the Streamer although not perfect works a lot better.
If you’d like further details just ask.
thx
Interesting comments about the Pures. When I initially went to the audie with complaints about feedback, the first thing she did was to adjust the high frequencies (not a huge problem for me, since most of my loss is in the lower frequencies). And I agree that the sound is not “natural” – everything sounds processed in a way that my CICs did not. (I can’t speak to the Tek, as I didn’t get it.)
I hope that I can get additional adjustments – I’m not looking forward to having to talk about getting an exchange for another brand. I do like the size of the Pures.
OK, I saw my audie this morning regarding my feedback problem. She exchanged the 8 mm closed domes for the 10 mm closed domes. She also called a specialist at Siemens for some advice, but that person wasn’t in. Audie says that custom molds are an option, but that the receivers tend to fall out of the pocket, so she’s not a fan of them. Said she’s on her third supplier of custom molds because of that. Before she made any software adjustments, she wants to see if the problem was a fit problem and talk to the Siemens person.
By the end of the day, I knew that the 10 mm domes weren’t solving my feedback, as I’m still getting feedback from soft music, sniffing, squeaky office chairs, anything high-pitched.
I did broach the subject of exchanging the Pures, and she said that she hasn’t yet been frustrated by a feedback problem, but in any event, she will extend the refund period if she hasn’t solved it by the end of the original 30-day period and that she doesn’t stick patients with HAs they can’t use. So, back to see her on Friday.
I am testing the Pure 700 RITE’s. I have high frequency loss and when I went to a local ‘chain’ store, these were recommended for me. I did a lot of reading on the web and in the end, I decided I liked the Pure’s because of the size and the TEK. Also my first pair were Siemens and they never went wrong.
The feedback is unbearable!!! They seem to go off for no reason at all, and sitting here in front of the computer; I cannot figure out what is setting them off. Totally random. Also, in the middle of talking they will go off. Setting my home alarm is making me run out of the house because of the strange squeals.
Is there anyone with high frequency loss out there who is happy with them?
Sounds like the Pures have a major feedback problem . . .
I’m willing to listen to what my audiologist recommends to try to resolve the feedback problem, but I’m getting more and more convinced that in the end, I’m going to have to exchange them.
Can anybody who wears Siemens CICs tell us if those have the same feedback problem?
I have Pure 500s and I had a problem with feedback with my microwave timer, toaster oven, auto seatbelt alarm, and a few like devices. My audi changed the feedback response time and the problem was eliminated. Granted my problem wasn’t as bad as your situation, but changing the feedback response might be worth the effort.
Yes, I would like to know the answer to that!
You are lucky. My audiologist was very aware of my problem at the time and did his best to try to eliminate the feedback. Unfortunately, I had to take them out because I could not stand it anymore. That is not like me at all! In the past I have always worn my new aids for the full day to let my brain get used to them.
I had the feedback with Pure 500 BTE and the domes. My audi tried all different sizes and styles of domes. She ordered the custom molds and they have been fine so far, no feedback in the right one. The left one experienced some feedback at the end of words, kind of strange. It sounded like feedback, a high pitched tone that continued after certain words. She order a tighter fitting mold for that side which I’ll get tomorrow. However, since leaving her office, I haven’t experienced the feedback at all. I work in front of a computer all day in my office … no problems, although I do have an lcd screen both at home and in the office. By the way, the receivers seem to fit just fine in their pockets and have not slipped out since getting them last Wednesday evening. I haven’t tried yanking them out, but a slight tug on them did not dislodge them at all.
Every night they go into my Dry & Store for the evening.
I saw on my audie’s computer screen that the feedback setting is on “Fast”, not “Standard.” Do you know if your audie changed your setting to Standard?
The way my audie explained it to me (if I understood her correctly) is that, unless there is a fit problem, feedback would be caused by the HAs misreading a high-pitched noise as feedback produced by the aids themselves and that noise activates the phase inverter. What I’m hearing is the cancellation signal – it’s audible because there’s no feedback to cancel.
Do you know who manufactured your custom molds?
No, but I can try to remember to ask my audi when I see her tomorrow evening to swap out the left one.
Thanks, I appreciate it.
