What would be a good replacement for Rexton Trax 42

I’ve had Rexton Trax 42’s since 2016. Aside from connectivity, has the technology changed in six years such that new hearing aids would provide better hearing? Would Costco KS10’s be a good replacement?

Sure, it sounds like it’s time for an upgrade, Costco has all the big brands now anyway, why KS10, you can try the latest M-core from Rexton (Signia) since your used to them anyway.

Check out here what’s available from Costco.

Seems like the Rexton was ahead of the competition six years ago and the decision was an easy one. Now, at first glance, they all seem very competitive in technology. Time to research and figure out what is important to me. Thanks.

Trax 42s were my first hearing aids, and I appreciated them for the help they gave. However, I always disliked having to wear the medallion-type accessory for the tv connector and phone calls, and in fact didn’t wear it unless I wanted to watch tv or knew I was going to be on the phone.

So when I heard about the KS9s doing those things without an intermediary device, I went back to Costco, tried them, and bought them. I appreciated the Trax 42s. I LOVE the KS9s. For me there is a hearing improvement along with the ease of having phone calls and tv sound pumped into the aids. I’m toying with the notion of trying the KS10s just because, and I’m one of those who originally was sure I’d keep hearing aids till they stopped working. That’s my usual way of handling anything. My car’s a 2008.

The KS10 would be fine. So would any of their other aids, although the KS10 is their least expensive. If you’d like to be able to connect to multiple devices like computers, tablets and phones without an auxillary device, the KS10 has an advantage. If you just want to stream from an iPhone or from one of a few select Android phones, all of their aids work fine.
I used to have KS7 (which was very similar to Trax 42) Things that I liked better about the KS7 than my current KS9 (and would apply to KS10) is that I relly like the Rexton Click Sleeves and their buttons were much better. Overall though I prefer my KS9.

I can relate, my car is a 2008 Honda Odyssey and I see no reason to replace it. But, I realize that mindset doesn’t always serve me well.

What was disappointing about the buttons and the domes?

imho… once you become accustomed to the signia/rexton/siemens sound the others will sound harsh.

With the Rexton buttons you can move forwards and backwards throught the programs. For example: If you have the auto program and programs 1, 2 and 3. You could push up button from Auto to get to 1 and down button from Auto to get to 3. With KS9, you have to cycle through the programs. It’s no big deal and I don’t find the programs that useful, but the Rexton logic is better.
The Rexton Click Sleeves provide a nice compromise between a closed dome and a double dome. They provide a better seal (in my ears, some people find them uncomfortable) which allows more gain without feedback. A double dome is too occlusive for me. My solution with the KS9 was custom molds.
