What’s the “link programs” setting in Oticon Genie 2?

In Oticon Genie 2 in the tabs between P1 and the rest of the programs P2, P3, P4 there’s a tab that says “Link Programs” that seems to be on by default. What is this for? When programming my Reals, it doesn’t seem to do anything compared to when it’s set to “unlink”.

In the menu bar on Genie, Help → Help on Genie 2 opens a web page with access to all the help files. Search for program manager on there and you’ll get to the Program Manager page which explains Program Linking. Also, on any of the help pages you can hover over the entries in the menu on top (“Working in Genie 2” through “More information”) to see a lot of submenus pointing to pages that cover everything(?).

If you have only setup one program (P1) and no other programs, then the Link-button is not available.

If you have setup more than one programm, then you can “Link” or “Unlink” the programms.
See therefore this thread

Example: You have setup three programms ( P1, P2, P3 ) and want to reduce the volume only in P1 left hearing aid.

Then you first need to seperate ( unlink ) the programms and then select P1 and also seperate (unlink) left side from right side.
After that steps you can reduce the volume for left side in P1 only.

If you did not unlink the programms and did not unlink right from left then the volume change happens in all programms and for left and right simultaniously.

It seems only the changes to P1 are propagated to other programs when linked. Changes to P2, P3, P4 didn’t seem to be applied to other programs.

Thats correkt , sorry that my example is misleading and i corrected this now to P1.

I have another question regarding the linking of programs, or unlinking of.

In Genie I have the Oticon Reals P1 set to General DSL v5A with link icon set to link, I’m assuming when I program P3 to General VAC+ that will be based on the P1? I’m probably assuming wrong, lol

I guess what I’m asking is should this be set to link or not with these 2 very different formulas?

Link and unlinked is for the HAs in most cases, as in working as a pair.

Yeah it’s kind of confusing, but if linked with P1 on DSL and P3 on VAC+ I should probably unlink if I don’t want the other program (P1 or P3) affected when making changes.

While I’m on this discussion of linking. When it comes to the TV adapter are the sounds coming from the adapter based/linked to in my case P1 DSL or P3 VAC+ ?

I would think it’s based on P1, tweaked for streaming, but I don’t use Oticon anymore, and I never worried about which formula was for streaming as I only set each program the same, but so long as I could get it sounding acceptable I was happy.

Yeah so you can link for volume and program’s, I’m not sure if you can unlink for just one program at a time when you already have more tho, we do have a few Oticonians doing DIY, I’m sure they’ll reply to this question.
