I can’t really tell from the Siemens’ website. They seem to be the same, other than the price. Also, the Kirkland Signature seems to be exactly the same as the Siemens’ Pure 701, down to the fact that they both have exactly the same features, just with slightly different names. Even the charger looks exactly the same. Are they really the same? I would much rather buy the Kirkland for half the price if they’re the same.
the Carat among other things has a size 13 instead of size 312 battery, is a faction bigger overall and offers the 75db HP receiver. The Kirklands or better the Rextons at Costco are close to the Pure depending on your audio-gram you may not notice a difference. The echarger, minitek, etc are the same just relabeled.
Hi all. Newbe, please be gentle. Just about time to purchase my first HAs. I had a medical ear exam (no problems) and a hearing test 4 years ago and was told I needed HAs. The audiologist recommended one of the Siemens models. Quoted me a price over $6,000 for the pair. I laughed and left.
Fast forward to a month ago. Another hearing test, a different audiologist, another Siemens recommendation (Pure Carat 301). Price $4200 for the pair plus $475 for the Blu Tooth remote. I told him I would think about it.
Started doing research (used to get paid for it) including scouring many hearing aid forums. I read a lot of positive comments about the Kirkland Signature 4.0s, including suggestions that they were close to the Rexton Cobalt 16+ and the Siemens Pure Carat 701.
Being cautious, I did some more research. I got the detailed technical specifications for the Cobalt from the Connexx program (about 6 pages long) and (from the Siemens web site) 8 pages of technical specifications on the Pure Carat 701. They are virtually identical on all performance parameters.
Can anyone (perhaps an audiologist) e-mail me the detailed technical specifications on the Kirkland Signature 4.0 so I can be sure the three products have the same (or very similar) specs. Are the KS 4.0 in the Connexx database or does the HA fitter use the Cobalt 16+ parameters? I crosschecked item by item all the features these 3 HAs advertise and they appear to be identical (just different names for the same function).
Any help in putting the final piece in the puzzle would be greatly appreciated. I’m trying not to make a multi thousand dollar mistake.
Thanks much,
The Kirklands are currently the Siemens Pure Carat which I think is the Rexton Onyx. A couple of differences in the Pure Carat/Kirkland and the Pure 701 is the Carat has one more receiver option, the 75 Db receiver, and the Carat has a telecoil. Several months ago the Kirkland was the Pure 701 / Rexton Cobalt+. They decided to go with the Carat version I guess because of those extra features.
They are good aids. You can get a 90 day trial. Although it is natural to want to know everything about the hardware, your success with any hearing aid may have more to do with the pro who sets them up and makes adjustments. It is very important to have a pro you can communicate with and trust. It might take several adjustment sessions to get everything just right, and everything is adjustable.
If the pro has recommended the Kirkland, give them a try. They are top level aids so if they work for you, you made a good decision. If you try somewhere else make sure you get a trial period. The trial period helps you not make a bad decision.
I have the Kirkland Signatre 4.0. They are programmed with a Siemens device and it is the same for the Siemens Pure, Rexton 16 and the KS 4.0’s.

The main difference is that the Pure Carat offers a tinnitus masking solution in the programming of the aid, as the Pure does not…in addition to the other differences others have already listed.
From what I understand, the Rexton Onyx is meant to be even more high powered than the Siemens Pures or Pure Carats.
