I have a waxing problem, have to clean my ear every 3 months or sooner
I think BTE aid would be better then IIE, am I right?
Seeking reply from experience users, no assumes please.
Well, I have BTE aids but wax is a major problem. BTE refers to where the aid is but tubes or wires connect the aid to a dome or mould that sits in the ear opening and reduces or blocks the natural outflow of wax. Once a week I check my ears with a camera and then syringe them if necessary.
Please tell where you got camera from? Thank you!
Amazon UK. The one I got is no longer listed but there are others. Mine was recommended by my audiologist on the basis that I use it solely as a camera. That’s because it comes as part of an ear cleaning kit. The audiologist warned against using it to clean wax as you could do damage to your ear. So I just use it as a camera. It works with a phone or tablet. It costs about 15 euros and could be useful in lots of contexts. Here’s a recent photo showing a mainly clear ear. The white object is the end of the camera probe.
I suppose it is possible, but unlikely. The scoops that I use are about 1/2 inch long, they do not reach anywhere close to my eardrums. In my ears wax tends to accumulate where the tips of my domes reach, again not close to my eardrums.
Maybe but I find syringing easier anyway. The syringe I use was also at the recommendation of the audiologist.
amazon.ca carres Bebird ear camera/cleaner kit and some knockoffs:

Bebird is a scoop with a built-in camera and light with a rechargeable battery. To see the camera view, you have to install a Bebird app to a smartphone or tablet and then watch what the camera sees on that device. It’s pretty good… more effective than just using a scoop or cotton swab. But it’s a little fiddly… takes some getting used to, moving the scoop to get the wax, because the user inclination is to move the wrong way. Overall I’d rate it 3.5 to 4 stars out of 5 in cleaning out wax near the ear opening, as far deep as either BTE or IIE tips go. It’s not tempting to go anywhere near as deep as the eardrum because the camera can’t see around the bends in the ear canal, and the light gets dim when the probe goes deep.
