Volume output from TV to Phonak Audeo hearing aids

I have just been fitted with Phonak Audeo L50-RL hearing aids and i am gradually adapting to them.

My one major problem is volume of sound streamed from my TV using the Phonak TV Streamer into my hearing aids.

In all other circumstances I am easily able to adjust the volume to acceptable levels however when I turn on the TV the initial sound level is far too high.

The Streamer is connected to the TV using the Toslink cable and the qauality of the output is good. On the Panasonic Smart TV I have set the PCM output to its lowest level, -10dB. On the streamer I have set volume out to its lowest level. On the app and hearing aids I have set volume to lowest level.

So what else can I do to permanently reduce the volume from the hearng aids?

I put a Digital Analog Converter (DAC) between the TV and the Phonak TV converter. I got it on Amazon for cheap. It includes its own remote with volume control and mute button. TOSLINK cable into DAC, analog out to Phonak TV but the quality is still excellent.

Yes, these things are cheap. I just bought the model below, which comes with a remote control, so I can mute and control the sound, which my TV somehow cannot do for its optical output (that remote has a weak range, teaching the command to a universal Harmony remote vastly improves things).

But for everyday control of my Phonak streamer nothing beats a simple volume (rotary) control that sits next to my armchair (the system gets the audio from the DAC over standard Bluetooth).
