Using Phonak TV Connector with 5.1 receiver

Hello, I am using Phonak Paradise aids. Is there a way to use the TV connector with my 5.1 receiver? I can not find a way. Thanks.

From the user guide, it seems the audio-in can be both toslink and 3.5mm (1/8") input. So yes. See if you can figure a way to use just the center speaker. That’s where all the dialog is. If you have some hearing (you haven’t included your audiogram here) then that other hearing can still pick up the music for ambience and emotional manipulation
It’s how I set up my loop (which I no longer have).

Hello, psterklar! There are almost certainly ways that your streamer can be connected but the possibilities will depend on your equipment.

I have NuEar (Starkey) hearing aids and TV streamer and I struggled to attach it to my old (2007!) Onkyo receiver. However, I did manage to set things up to feed my streamer. Here is a diagram of my system that I had previously created:

My receiver does NOT extract digital audio from the incoming HDMI signal and therefore I needed the TV’s Digital Audio Out to feed back into the receiver. I expect newer receivers would handle that internally and this connection may not be needed for your setup.

Google “HDMI Audio Extractor” for devices that work for you. If you have a 4K TV, make sure the HDMI extractor is rated for 4K video. For the Phonak TV connector, you can use the toslink output from the extractor to feed your connector.

There are many, many different configurations out there but this was the only setup that worked with my equipment. I get full stereo in my hearing aids, even when my wife mutes the TV.

Good luck! It’s worth the effort!!!

Two channel analog is available on the headphone-out port. You can control it with the receiver remote. It will mute the system’s speakers when you use it.
