Hi y’all. I came across this forum while doing some research on my upgrade of Rondo 3 cochlear processor. I got my cochlear implants in 2017 & had over the ear Sonnets. They have served me well, but recently went back to my audiologist to see if I needed some tweaking. She informed me that I was eligible to upgrade! I’ve had some wear & tear from 8 years of use! Anyway, this go round I chose the Rondo 3 That just attaches to the head. I am loving the simplicity of everything packed in one piece! My car is so much quieter, Hallelujah. I seem to be experiencing a little vertigo/dizziness since wearing the Rondo 3 over the last 12 days. I thought I would experiment with my Sonnets And see if the vertigo goes away. I can’t imagine why the Rondo would suddenly be causing me some dizziness. There are lots of New features with the Rondo 3, But I have not even attempted to tackle those yet. I seem to be hearing just as well with the ones I had over the ear. Anyway, that’s my three cents worth, haha. I wish you all the best of hearing!
8 years. You are an old salt with CI.
Magnet strength can cause dizziness and headaches.
If the volume is louder that too could cause dizziness.
Does the dizziness immediately happen when you put on the Rondo processor or does it take time during the day?
I am bilateral with Cochlear Kanso2 processors. The K3 should be coming out soon and I am up for an upgrade!!
Haha, yes, old salt! (where are you from, that’s a Funny phrase). I wondered if the magnet strength might have something to do with it because she did say she went to the next Magnet weight since the Rondo is a little heavier. I think the dizziness progresses over time during the day. My first few days of wearing them, I was not sure if I was experiencing that or not, but it most definitely is. This afternoon I got pretty dizzy!! I am averaging about 15.2 hours a day with them. Ohhhh, I’m loving the rechargeable feature as well, yippee, i’m not familiar with other brands, but I hope the one you go with works great for you! Is it on the head or behind the ear? How long have you had yours?
The Cochlear Kanso aids are off the ear like your Rondo.
It’s been 4.5 years for me…
I like the rechargeable processors too. The Nucleus 7 on the ear has replaceable rechargeable batteries. They only lasted about 1.5-2 years for me. The Kanso2 batteries have been bullet proof. After 15-16 hours use each day the batteries typically are about 50%.
We have a few AB CI members here. A few more Cochlear. 2-3 MedEl that I can remember off hand. All are very helpful.
Ahh. My MedEl Sonnet also came with attachable rechargeable batteries, but they didn’t last a whole day & was a pain to have to change out. Technology just gets better & better. I’m SO glad not to be changing out disposable batteries every 2 days!!
My Rondo3 came with accessories for streaming, etc, but I’ve not taken the time to research the set up. Today makes day 13 on these new processors. I don’t know why I’m putting it off? I
I got to thinking about my vertigo/dizziness yesterday and I think I may have also been a little dehydrated as I have been painting over at my dad‘s house and never took a break to drink any water. That might’ve been why it was a little worse yesterday, but I know I am having some dizziness anyway.
