Hi. I haven’t been here for a while and don’t think it’s relevant but have the Kirkland 9.0 and tonight the left hearing aid seemed to stop working. What I did notice though is that I could still press the buttons for volume and it would adjust the right hearing aid. I changed battery a few times to check that and then actually the wire seemed to break off from the bud. Would anyone know if the volume buttons work if that means the hearing aid itself is ok and it’s a matter of a bud/wire change? I am hoping it’s that and will get to Costco soon hopefully but hate to have to order one and wait since that could take a long time. Thank you! I think this question could apply to any manufacturer actually and not be just related to Kirkland models
Yeah first change the wax filters and domes, this could get it up and running.
Thank you. I am going to go to Costco tomorrow. I don’t have wax filters, just have the closed domes. Both of them appear on the app as connected and I can change the volume and even the channel with the buttons on the ‘non-working’ one. It does seem a little coincidental that the wire broke after taking hearing aid out a couple of times to change battery … so fingers crossed it is a ‘simple’ fix. If not, I am not sure they can replace the kirkland 9.0 hearing aid at this point but I don’t want to pay for new ones.
Its broken, the receiver wire?
The wire that goes from the device into the bud broke off when I took it out of my ear (it had stopped working a few minutes before that though and I changed the battery a few times in case it was battery problem). It seems like wire was a little ‘brittle’. The wire that curls inside the ear is still intact.
Oh yeah that’s the problem, change the whole receiver it’ll come with a new wax filter, fit new dome and you’ll be away, Costco will be able to this for you no problem, a small charge maybe.
OK! Looks like you found the problem. I had the identical situation with my Phonak 312-battery RIE aids. The RIGHT aid stopped working after it’d been flaky for maybe a day? Like if I wiggled the ear wire that attaches the receiver/speaker to the “bean” that goes behind the ear, that right aid would shut down.
Not being a DIYer, I had to get in to see my audiologist, and it was a 2-minute fix. She just swapped in a new receiver/speaker (the part that has the dome on it) and as tenkan mentions, these now come already attached to the ear wire.
I was EVER so grateful I didn’t have to send the aids back to Phonak! Hopefully Costco will get your aid fixed in 5 min while you browse the fruits and veggies!
Thank you BlueJay and Tenkan- Costco said to come back in 1/2 an hour and I was on pins and needles but he fixed it! I have no idea though how much longer I have free service on the kirkland 9.0 which they no longer sell… I did realize that probably putting in my soft ear buds headphones over the hearing aids was not good for wire, though I’ve been doing it for over 3 years without any problems before! I am a therapist and do telehealth and am not sure now what to do because the clients often can’t hear me when I try to use the hearing aid for sessions on bluetooth. I can just take out hearing aids and use the plug in ear buds to the iphone for sessions as easy to adjust volume but that means a lot of hours without using the hearing aids. Does anyone have any ideas on ways to do a lot of phone calls without damaging hearing aids if use something external? In any case, I am all set for now… They are re-testing my hearing actually in a week or two (probably to try to upsell me something else).
