UK: Boots or Specsavers?

‘You’ in this sense wasn’t meant to be accusatory- sorry, typed speech doesn’t do nuance.

‘You’ I meant as the collective market - You (all-together) are making this happen. You (all-together) are driving the market through individual purchasing decisions. When the country is knackered by offshoring of business activities and socialisation of the losses then you (all-together) hold some degree of responsibility.

Look, I’m probably in a bad mood after just paying my tax. Don’t take it personally.

Also: English Dispenser has retired and is currently rearing some Animals, Evesham way.

No worries Stephen, I understand or try too, you take care, cheers Kev

There’s a lot of debate here. I think it is a classic ‘pays your money and takes your choice’. If you can afford, an independent gives far better advice and fitting.
I have a fairly severe condition (drifting towards a CI), but fortunate to be able to (just) afford an independent. The fitting, understanding, advice and after sales service has been exemplary- so much better than NHS or High Street.
But if it is just about cost, I would personally ask a High Street provider for a quote on the same model and see who is cheapest- but I think that after-care is so important too.
Sadly, hearing problems are rarely stable, so this is just one stage on a journey where retesting and resetting will be required…

I went to the appointment on Saturday, but unfortunately couldn’t get a hearing test due to wax. I showed the audiologist my old audiogram and he said that ite would be suitable? Also said that they don’t do rem. I’m due back on Saturday for wax removal and a hearing test.

I got very good hearing aids NHS from specsavers compared with the hearing aids from the hospital.
