Two weeks in with Starkey Evolv 2400 RIC

Have appointment with audiologist Tuesday morning, little late with this post. But, I just found the forum last night. I have been using the above hearing aids for the past two weeks. Wear them from 9am till midnight. I am heading in tomorrow for the below comments/problems. Any advice would be thankful.

1.) Bluetooth cannot be disabled at the hearing aid. I can disable Bluetooth at my phone but not the hearing aid. Lots of threads in this forum stating that Bluetooth is not harmful(for me 15 hours a day with Bluetooth enabled), but in the end I would not be using the music streaming as the sound is not as good as my AirPods. Because it has to mix the music with the surrounding sound it is not good. I also hardly ever talk on my phone, so the phone connection part is never going to be used.

2.) The Bluetooth features of setting different custom settings, wind noise, edge mode, car, restaurant, and TV just did nothing for me in terms of hearing better in that environment.

3.) I did find that I was able to tweak the LO to Ultra high settings using the Equalizer to hear better with the prescription that was programmed by the audiologist.

So, I am going to ask tomorrow for a hearing aid brand that would let me disable the Bluetooth when a majority of the time I am not using that functionality. Or I just go with a non-Bluetooth hearing aid, which I am leaning for. The other question is, would a In-The-Ear or In-The-Canal work better. I had to mess with the device behind the ear in terms of reading glasses and sunglasses not rubbing up against the plastic and being amplified.

I have a high frequency hearing loss found as a child(posted my audiogram report), and I had to turn down the high frequency boost as it made hearing human voice harder.

Regarding item #1, in the thrive app you can change the behaviour of streaming. Device settings, auto streaming, mic volume when streaming. Setting it to mute would stop the mixing of sounds, I agree it’s horrible sounding.

Using the inspire application I changed the settings for streaming to sound better for music. This is a better solution than using the equalizer (because that just creates another memory to deal with in the Thrive app). Ask you Audi to fix the streaming settings so that music sounds good.

When I’m outdoors in the wind, my typical solution is to turn on music. That mutes the mics and of course the wind noise.

I didn’t see a way to disable BT in the Inspire app, but I wasn’t looking for it. My thought about this is it took awhile to really learn how the HAs work and how lousy the Thrive app is. Once The HAs were programmed correctly I really started to appreciate them. Even though I avoid using the thrive app, I do listen to music and talk on the phone. BT is essential for those activities.

Item 2, I found the built in to be lacking as well. each of these can be tweaked using the inspire app. I have normal, outdoors, restaurant, car, and Stream Boost as the built in memories for my HAs. That way I don’t need to use the app to change, just the buttons on the HAs.

Item 3, ask your Audi to fix.
