Newbie question. I just charged my hearing aids for the first time. (bought through own channels). My iphone is identifying both Oticon real hearing aids as “left”? Only pairs to one. Have I gotten bamboozled?
Haha, well this would normally only happen if they were programmed individually, by mistake both were set for the left side, however I don’t know how the Oticon App works nor how you iPhone works, in android you can set both left and right for streaming in bluetooth settings, have you got something like this in iPhone?
What does the App show?
They are supposed to be “new” and never programmed. I guess my question is are the oticon reals ear specific. Or are they identical and when you program them it labels them left or right? I think I read that some brands because of positioning of buttons or whatever, the right hearing aid can never be used for the left and vise versa. I have not gotten to the oticon app on my iphone because I am still trying to pair the hearing aids in settings on the iphone with bluetooth. Two hearing aids show up, both labeled as left. When I pair to one of them, it no longer gives me an option to pair the second one. It just disappears. When I click “forget this device”, I can see them both again.
Well you can’t use them as they should, because you do need them to be programmed for each ear.
Yes this can be done in Oticon Genie software.
No they are interchangeable, the buttons are always in the centre.
So you’ll need to program them correctly to your loss, easy enough to do as a DIY project, you’ll need the Noahlink wireless programming device as well, read the user guide to see how easy it is to.
The bodies of the HAs can be either side, but the receivers on RIC hearing aids are specific to left or right. If your wires are bent the same way and not a mirror image, then you’ll need to buy a receiver of the other kind from what you have.
WH
They would be the same colour as well (blue) but mate, who does this, sends out two left HAs and fits them with two left receivers, bugger that, I’d return them for a refund on principal!
If the aids have never been programmed then they would both identify as left. It’s trivially easy to change but you do need the fitting software to do it. You can’t just do it by sticking a right hand receiver on one of the aids.
David, Thank You!!! This is what I needed to kinow and I hoped was true. I have the programing software.and the hardware. But wanted to cross the hurdle as to whether they were “used” first.
Thank you Tenkan for ALL your help!. From what David says I am ok. Learning that that this is the normal state of new unprogrammed Oticon real HA. They will identify as “Left”.
