TV turns "off" after 18 minutes of streaming through TV Streamer - why?

TV is LG 65 inch, OLED 2024 model
Hearing aids are Phonak Aude`o , L70 - R/RT supplied in 2024
TV connector supplied by Phonak
Connector is Toslink cable
Location Australia
I have to then use TV controller to turn TV back on and depending what I am watching, ie Britbox, Netflix, Disney, in some cases TV comes back on to app being used or in some cases I have to restart app to get back to what I was watching.
Once the TV is restarted it then runs without further issue for the viewing session.
I need help and advice, thank you.

I have the Phonak TV Connector and it’s not connected to the USB port of the TV. If the TV turns off after 18 minutes, then it’s your TV settings. You need to look in your TV settings and turn off the shut off function or whatever it’s turning off power, energy savings function or something like that. You didn’t post the model nbr of your TV.

Thank you for responding. Yes, going to investigate the TV settings next. Now days I’ll have to go through the ā€œonline users manualā€ as TV’s don’t come with user manual books anymore. Will post up results in due course, cheers. Ken

lg tvturning off after18 minutes

If your LG TV is turning off after 18 minutes, the most likely reason is that you have a power-saving feature enabled, like a sleep timer, set to automatically turn off the TV after a certain period of inactivity; check your TV settings to adjust or disable this feature.

Here’s what to check:

  • Power Saving Settings: Navigate to your TV’s settings menu, usually labeled ā€œGeneralā€ or ā€œPictureā€ and look for options like ā€œAuto Power Off,ā€ ā€œSleep Timer,ā€ or ā€œEnergy Saving Mode.ā€
  • Check for accidental activation: Someone in your household may have accidentally set a sleep timer.
  • HDMI Connection: A faulty HDMI cable can sometimes cause unexpected behavior, including the TV turning off intermittently.

What to do if the problem persists:

  • Check for overheating:

If your TV is in a confined space, ensure proper ventilation to prevent overheating which can trigger automatic shutdowns.

  • Update Firmware:

Check for available firmware updates for your LG TV, as updates can sometimes fix issues with power management.

  • Contact LG Support:

If none of the above solutions work, contact LG customer support for further assistance.

You can find the owners manual or operation manual online for your TV. Go to LG.com website

I too have a ā€˜LG’ (Lucky Gold) TV, however mine stays on.
But ā€˜LG’ manuals are primitive to say the least.

Hi all from Australia,
Thank you to my responders for giving me clues to follow to solve my problem. We are in holiday mode at the moment with house guests so doing investigations on the TV is a bit hard.
The connection between the TV and the Phonak streaming box is via a ā€œtoslinkā€ plug and cable and not a ā€œusbā€ connection. There is no other input to the streamer other than a power cord.
The model number of the TV is OLED65CSPSA manufactured in 10/2022 and made in Indonesia.
I will post how I go next when I do further work on my problem. Cheers to all. Ken

I don’t think the tv even knows if anything is plugged into the toslink port. It is certainly a one-way connection. Are you saying the tv works fine with the toslink connection unplugged?

Hi to everyone,
Thank you WhiteHat for replying.
Well, good news, problem may be gone.
Spent some time yesterday, when everyone in the house were out, sitting going through the online user manual from start to finish. Each heading has drop down information and menus, some categories with a number of further drop down items or options. Considered all info very carefully with my issue in mind, thought about on/off switches and what they did be it ā€œon or offā€.
Then I settled down with TV and streamer ā€œonā€ and watched the clock. Guess what? The TV did not turn off at 18 minutes. Did I do something when reading all the user manual information and options? I don’t know. Maybe a reset of a feature I did not realise was 'on or off". I don’t know.
Anyhow, when I stream again tonight (it’s 9.26am here), we will see what happens.
Keep you posted, cheers everyone. Ken
