TV connector for Unitron/Phonak

Hi,

I’m new to hearing aids. Had a hearing test, moderate loss. Trialed Oticon MiniRite 3s. I’m sold on the concept but was a flabbergasted at the price. So I’ve done some research and am diving in to the point of buying a pair of Unitron Moxi Alls and a Noahlink Wirless, online, because I love a challenge. Thanks all for the many DIY posts, they’ve been invaluable.

I’ll probably buy a TV connector as well. Hard to find the Unitron model prices online. I was assuming that the Phonak model worked for Untron as well, but one vendor told me it does not. Any advice would be appreciated.

Also, I see two different versions of the Phonak TV connector, one with buttons on top and optical input. I only have one optical-out on my TV, and I’m already using it for a surround receiver. (PC -> TV -> Receiver) Assuming I use an analog input to the TV connector, is it still preferable to buy the version with the volume buttons (if it’s compatible), or are those buttons redundant?

D.

You can buy a splitter for the optical connection to use it on two devices.

The one with buttons is the newer one made for the Marvels. The one without, was made for the Directs.

Thanks, that will make it easy if I use the optical cable.

Thanks. The vendor recommended Unitron model is supposedly ready to ship, although I still don’t know what it will be. The image on Unitron’s site looks identical to the Phonak model with the buttons. Yet the Moxi Alls would seem to have more in common with the Phonak Directs. Still waiting so that the vendor can ship the aids, the TV connector and the Noahlink Wireless all together. That should minimize the problem if there are any compatibility issues.
I already have an analog feed at the table next to my chair. I’ll use that if I get buttons and want to use them. If I don’t get buttons or don’t need to use them, I’ll put the TV connector across the room with the receiver.

Answering my own question: Phonak Marvels connected perfectly to the Unitron TV Connector.
