Tubes coming out of Moulds

Hey, long time aid user here!

My tubes (which are thick ones) keep coming out of my moulds. As you can imagine it’s super annoying.

There are some old posts here suggesting smearing some Loctite Superglue on the tubes and inserting in the moulds. Would that still be the case? The Audi suggested the same but wanted to confirm on here.

We used to use that, but now find that the UV acrylic that sets with the small UV torches is better and also fills the mould defects without going white or leaving a residue.

by tubes, do you mean receiver wires?? I just did this a while back while awaiting my new moulds… I cut a thin strip of adhesive tape and wrapped it around the end of the receiver

No he meant tubes. As in mould tubing.

This happened to me so I ordered ‘extra Thickwall’ and now it doesn’t happen.

Super annoying tho.

Depends on your mold material. If it is lucite or acrylic (hard mold) I always used acetone or plastic cement. If it is a soft mold like silicone, glue won’t stick very well but there used to be tubes with a retention ring around the tube that was pulled into the hole in the mold for the tubing.

Use silicone, the same stuff you use to make your bathroom, toilet and kitchen waterproof at the edges. I also use it repair the silicone cover of the remote. (My daughter got into the habit of plucking the material when she watches the TV.) The only downsides of silicone are the long hardening time (up to 24h) and the fact that the tube usually hardens before it is all used up. However, I also found use around the house for a cylinder of silicone. (Usually padding for doorsstops, etc.)

Do you by any chance grab hold of the tubes to pull the molds out of your ears? If you do, try pushing up under the ear lobe to get the molds out instead.

If you glue them then you may not be able to replace when they go hard. Extra thick wall or some have a retaining ring on the tube.
