Thinking about getting Phonak Paradise P90

Hello,

I am i am using pair of Audeo S Spice (9) and compilot for last 10 years.
They work, but compilot are falling apart (litteraly ducktaped), and i think rear mic are muted a little so they dont do noise like before). 18 h a day user…
Its time for new ones, so i am thinking of geting Paradise. When i got my hearing aids i lost 2 years with oticons because they feedback control sucked. Without closing my ears completly they were unable to suppress feedback unless gain is reduced greatly on feedback frequency. And they cant close vents because my bones are moving with jaw and create vacuum effect. Even with completly closed - when i smiled feedbak ocure if gain was in useble range. Phonak worked with little tweaks like make hole in power dome.

So my question for Paradise users is:

I understand that Paradise use direct BT, but is switching instant or have long connect/disconect?
On Spice there is at least 2 second swiching tone when call come, or notification is played. So basically its useless for have stream connected because notification come, they take their time to switch program, it switch but notification is long gone, and than it switch back… 5-10 sec of lost hearing and no notification heard.
Also, non of HA advanced programming work in streaming program (surrounding noise, directonality)…

Back in 2012 oticon have superior spatial sound - I was able to pinpoint location of every noise like clock ticking. Even with one aid swiched off. On phonak i only can do it with “where i heard it louder when moving head”. Is that improved in newest generation?

Oticon had great noise reductor like vaccum cleaner in room. they simply muffled that direction so in some situations i heard better than normal hearing pearson. Phonak wast that good.

Also, is new platform expected soon? I can wait few month because my old pair still work…

And last question? Is there any benefit of rechargeable ones aside from not need fiddle with changing batteries?
I dont like having 1 day charge cycles because its ok on beginning, but 1 year down it would be reduced and i dont expect them to work few years. Also replacing will not be cheap and fast. My audy cant even get me compilot battery for swap.

Rechargeable Paradise have the “Tap” function that is not available on battery models.
Audeo Paradise has been available since August 2020 so a new model should be coming out within the year. There is a waterproof version coming out called the Audeo Life.
Rechargeables should be able to last up to 6 or 7 years with no additional expense. Most come with 3 year warranties and typically they can be sent back at the 3 year mark to get new battery, all at no charge. However, if you want to keep 10 years, youi’ll likely end up having to replace one set of batteries.
Oticon is supposed to be better with feedback. Having worn Phonak that long, I suspect Phonak would be easier to get used to.

Dont have too much to add. The Audeo Life (waterproof) version is already available. Also the rechargable have both the tap feature and motion detection, so when it sense you are walking it adjusts the microphones spatially to allow for better side to side hearing vs directionally in front of you (when you are walking next to someone you want to hear them without turning your head). Suggest you watch the Dr Cliff video on the Paradise model if you haven’t already.

Cant offer any advice in comparison to anything else. First set of HA and on month number 2.

oh, streaming. i can say it will interrupt for about 2 seconds if you have notifications coming in while watching a tv or movie thru them.

For answering calls it was instant when I press accept or use the tap feature on my ear.

Also, the paradise are full 2 way bluetooth, mic and speaker unlike the Oticon. So I can answer and talk without taking the phone out of my pocket, or leave it on the table and walk around, etc. That is AWESOME.

I know it’s not a total solution but I managed to get a first generation Phonak ComPilot off eBay for £13 which is around $20 for a friend who has older Aids. It’s been working for 14 months now and still going.

The first generation Phonak ComPilot is what you’ll need.

Might be a solution if you want to wait for a new hearing aid to come out?

EDIT - So first generation Phonak ComPilot’s are super cheap on eBay.

Oh, i see… I tough tap is available on 90 and 70, but now i see 312/13 dont have it.
So its rechargeble or tap… :frowning:
I know, will have to think about it.

How much can they endure to drain to 0? I have severe to profund so it would be power receiver, and sometimes i have a lot of talks on phone like 3-4 h.
Its no problem for zinc air ones, just swap it out. Dont know if i want to be dependable on some charger at home.

I believe i will stick to phonak, it worked well for me… around 70-80% loss and i work in retail, talking to people all day. All problem i had with phonak in 10 years is 2 broken receivers (wires) and neckloops. And battery in compilot.

Someone said a few days ago on another thread, that the Phonak Naida P90 UP which uses 675 batteries has the tap control.

Don’t know for sure if it’s 100% correct tho.

From this, I’d say that is mistaken about the P90UP. There’s an asterisk that says the feature is only available on the P-PR

That is good idea too. I have Target at home with HIpro, so i can pair it without problem.
Maybe i wil consider to wait a little… Thanks.

Naida is too big/heavy.
That why I used audeo s 312 battery. Even battery 10 aids are big.
Life sound interesting, but don’t know what size to expect.
I have ceramic one, I and regret I didn’t take plastic trialed one because I can feel Audeo S ceramic immediately I put them on ears . Something’s is bothering me.

Will have to see/feel it on my ears. I would like to not be visible from side and not push my ears sideway.

It will be a lot of decisions to make.

Btw in my country - Croatia is not easily to trial them like in USA.

Ref comment is other post https://forum.hearingtracker.com/t/my-phonak-app-hits-new-low/65406/54?u=brbarry

The Nadia Paradise P90-up are my current HA’s, and I can confirm that it does function correctly.

Barry, you are sure it is the 675 removable batteries one?
The screenshots in my comments above, are taken from Target 7.2.1
Are you saying that the Naida Paradise P90 UP 675 has got tap control?
I think Phonak hasn’t released any tap control + motion sensor hearing into any HA apart from the Paradise rechargeable ones.
But, if you are correct, how does one go about activating tap control on Naida Paradise P90 UP 675?

@Baltazard

I looked it up and saw that only the Naida Rechargeable has the motion sensor and tap control.

The Naida P90 UP definitely does not have the tap control or the motion sensor.

@Zebras I don’t believe there are different models with different features for every country.
I’ve spoken to Phonak US Audiology dept, and they told me that the models are the same for any country.

That’s not what that says. Note the asterisk on the Tap Control part? It means that it’s only for rechargeable model.

18 hours a day is asking a lot for Phonak or most rechargeable hearing aids. Resound have a better reputation for rechargeable battery hearing aids. From reading here on the forum I would buy the disposable battery version hearing aids for your situation.

The Phonak tap and motion control is only on the higher voltage rechargeable hearing aids.

My More1 aids will go 20 hours as long as I am not streaming much.

It depends on the aids and the Bluetooth. The phonak/kirkland use traditional bt and yes, 18 hr would be good. The jabra/resound and Philips use mfi (those are the only ones I’ve used - but I’m sure others will be similar) will go 25/30 hours. I’ve used my jabra for just about 2 solid days with no charge. I don’t like to do that but I have
