New to this Community! Stroke induced HL, 19 mos. ago, age 71! Am mostly Recovered! Sudden Hearing Loss R. side, was my 1st Stroke Symptom! Can Now Walk, Swim, Ride a Bike! Yay! Hearing? Not as much. Phonak Audeos. After experimenting, I Could Pair my HAs w a Google Chromecast Bluetooth TV Dongle. Direct Sound! Phonak told me, several times, that it was Not Possible! Well, it IS! Now having issues w R (Master) its not really Connecting. All media say it IS Connecting(ed), Muted sound in R HA. transmits to L Slave. Confused! Appt. on Thurs. Ideas? Thanks All!
I use a Phonak TV Connector to hear TV sounds and much more reliable than pairing hearing aids to TV Bluetooth. Bluetooth will cut in and out.
I am trying to avoid buying the Phonak repeater, as it rediculously priced. I live in a small Space and the Chromecast Dongle works Well! Cost? $40! It Works! The Phonak device is a Rip Off! I Now also know that the Whole industry is a bit Shady! Lots of extra $$$ in it! Bluetooth is Bluetooth as a technology. It Works for me for $40!
It doesn’t sound like it’s working now. The TV Connector is available for about $100 used on EBay.
If you can get your Dongle working again, great. If not the TV Connector is a great device.
Dongle is working fine for my small space. Yes there are some small issues. I think there is another issue w the R. aid as it has no signal at all. It does send the signal to the L side however. As I have a Stroke induced loss in only my R, I am just waiting for my appt on Thurs. for diagnosis. Thanks for your input!
Try resetting/rebooting the hearing aid. Not sure what Phonak hearing aid you have but this is usually done by holding the off button for 9+ seconds.
I think this is done by either 1) opening battery door if using disposable or 2) Putting in the charger and then removing Hard to believe he hasn’t done one or the other since problem started.
Rechargables! That is Not working either. They worked Great for 3 Days in a row. Then Sat AM, Nothing on R at all. Nothing to do with the TV, not paired. I have read that the Phonak App for Android, has only 2 stars. Maybe the issue?
OK, that sounds like recharging is an issue. App is not needed for basic function. Do you get flashing lights when you put aid into charger? If not they are either not inserted correctly or there’s something wrong(as in return your audiologist for repair)
Everything Blinks! Not a charging issue. Even Phonak App., shows Both @ 100%! Nada on R. I’d like to see Google start making HAs!
Then what do you mean by nothing on right at all? No sound? Maybe your wax filter is plugged.
Thats the 1st thing I did on Sat AM! I have 1 Good ear, there is Nothing coming from the R. Aid Speaker! Seeing the Aud. on Thurs. Thanks!
If it is just you and nobody else and you have a Roku TV along with a Roku app you can connect directly through your hearing aids.
On the Roku app you will see a set of headphones. If you click that, it will very easily connect you. It does stop the sound from coming out of the TV speaker or a sound bar.
I have a Chromecast, similar to ROKU. It works! Blutooth HDMI plug in! Thanks!
Bad receiver is fairly likely. Yes, see your audi.
Appt. on Thurs. Thanks!
Not sure if you were responding to my post. If you were, note that resetting or rebooting is not the same as restarting. I was in error in saying you do this by holding the down button for 9+ seconds when it is actually 15 seconds
Rebooting your hearing aid
Use this technique if your hearing aid is in an error state. This will not remove or delete any program or settings.
- Instruction for other Phonak rechargeable hearing aids:
-
Press the lower part of the button for at least 15 seconds. It does not matter if the hearing aid is switched on or off before you start pressing the button. There is no light or acoustic notification at the end of the 15 seconds.
-
Place the hearing aid in the power-connected charger and wait until the indicator light blinks green. This can take up to 30 seconds. The hearing aid is now ready to use.
It IS receiving something, as it Does transmit to the L! IT does Not make Any Sound on the R. Thanks!
All that instruction stuff, I Did it! 3 or 4 times! Thanks!
Hearing aid parts names are confusing. The “speaker” is called the receiver (I think from old telephone days when the part you held to your ear was called the receiver) If one aid isn’t making any sound, most likely is wax filter is plugged. If that’s not the case then receiver is most likely. Your Audi should be able to replace it in the office if that’s the case.
