I just purchased a pair of Starkey Edge 2400’s. My previous aids were 5 year old Starkey Livio 2400’s. I like to stream my music from my iPhone 12. The issue I’m having is when I’m out walking the stream is a poor reception….its in & out. My Livio’s were the same way. When I’m sitting down & the iPhone is set on a table, the reception is excellent. The in & out only occurs when I’m moving, walking. I see people jogging & walking with iPods all the time. They’re not having reception issues. Does any know why this happens to hearing aids. If iPods can get a steady steam, then hearing aids should too.
The reliability is probably due to the antenna size.
Your head is a barrier, so the smaller antenna in the hearing aid signal needs something to bounce off from like a wall to get good reception. That’s why it works indoors but cuts in and out when outdoors as you move your head.
Some hearing aids do work better then others with certain phones. So that’s something to think about.
Positioning your phone to give the best line-of-sight to your hearing aids may help too.
FWIW.
I have the Starkey Edge AI.
I also have a Pixel 6a.
I have no problems streaming when I’m outside walking.
My phone is in my left front pants pocket. The phone is three feet away from my aids.
If you research the site you’ll see complaints about Bluetooth streaming involving almost every aid and almost every phone.
