Starkey Genesis A1 24 CIC - left hearing aid still not fitting properly after 6 remakes

These are the best hearing aids that I have worn in my life!
However, the left CIC was remade 6 times by Starkey (in a 9 month trial period) as the retention lock was hurting my ear concha (not ear canal). I gave up as I needed hearing aids to return to work. I still want to acquire the Starkey Genesis CICs BUT I do not know how to deal with the situation.

Moderate to profound hearing loss and have been wearing CICs for over 40 years.

Lots of us have discussed ear molds and how to make them.
6 different failures means something is consistently done wrong.
Have you tried different mouth positions? Or the same every time a mold was taken?
Chewing will the mold sets up is another method talked about.

Maybe other members will chime in on this.

Agree with Raudrive. Please check if you can bite onto something (should open your jaws to the max) and then get the mould done. I have also had retention issues with starkey for my right year (while siemens fit perfectly well). This time around they took an open jaw impression. I am yet to recieve the aid. I have been using IIC for my left year for the past 10 odd years. All the best!!

Do you ‘need’ the canal lock? Normally if you had a pressure/contact issue with one we’d dremel the end down until it sat comfortably and then re-lacquer it. This wouldn’t usually need a remake: it would normally happen in-house.

In no particular criticism of your audiologist/dispenser, the recent emphasis on RIC aids has meant that mould adjustment skills aren’t perhaps what they could be.
