Spare Pair of OTC Aids

I’ve been wearing a pair of Jabras for the last year, after experiencing SNHL from a bout of Covid that eventually turned into Ménière’s disease in my right ear, but I have low frequency hearing loss in both ears. The Jabras helped quite a bit, but the hearing in noise has always been my kryptonite. I work in a school and the teens come up to talk to me in the hallways during class changes and when I tell you I cannot hear a word they’re saying, I’m not lying; that hallway is LOUD. I always wanted a spare pair, so during this Black Friday frenzy, I ordered a pair of Elehear Beyond hearing aids, took the online test and forwarded my results to their audiologist, and she sent back a detailed explanation of how to set them up for my loss. I’ve been wearing them for two days and already love them more than my Jabras, and these were half the price. I know reverse slope loss is tricky to fit, and what works for one does not work for all, but wanted to toss this out there in case someone else could benefit. My low tones fall into the moderate category, but my higher frequencies are better. I’m eager to go to work on Monday and see how they perform when I’m in the hallway with 500 students coming through and conversations happening in the interim. Fingers crossed that this “spare pair” are my unicorn, because I’m tired, folks! Maybe I can hear my office phone ring too, while I’m at it, but at least that has a flashing light so I notice it when it does!
