Hi, I just got the Sony CRE-C20 hearing aids and they are working well, but I had some trouble with the hearing test that is part of the setup in the app. I’m hoping someone here has the same or similar (C10?) hearing aids and has experienced using the app. The online Sony support page seems to have been down for weeks, and their FAQs aren’t a help for my problem.
When doing the test, the app gives you three beeps at different sound levels and then asks you how many you hear, for various frequencies (you choose 0, 1, 2, or 3 beeps). I have a simple question about that: Are the three beeps repeated, or do they occur just once? Because I’m pretty sure I can’t hear all three, but I do hear the same-volume beep again, like maybe it’s going BEEP Beep beep, BEEP Beep beep, and I’m only hearing the loudest beep. If it’s not repeating, then the time interval of the beeps is unusual. If it is repeating, the app never said it would repeat the beeps. So I’m in a quandary: not knowing if the beeps repeated, but hearing the same-volume beep twice, would I report hearing two beeps, or one? Logically, I’m reporting hearing just one. This problem is simplified a little bit for this forum, as I do sometimes hear quieter beeps, too, and still don’t know if the beeps are repeated. Also, during the beeps, the app shows moving musical notes. Do the visible notes correspond to the beeps? It would be a great help if they did, but from what I can tell in my hearing-impaired condition, they don’t.
Thank you for any assistance!
Hi Mike
I use the cre e10, but I’m fairly sure the hearing test through the app is identical.
The beeps are NOT repeated unless you select “replay” which from memory appears at the bottom of the screen.
You do however need to make a selection (0,1, 2 or 3) for the test to progress.
That’s great to know. Thank you! I think it should all work better when I redo the setup, now.
Much appreciated!
I also have Sony CRE-C20 hearing aids. I found the hearing test a little confusing also, but it seems to work. I re-ran the test several times. It’s easy to do over again if you’re not happy with the resulting settings.
The setup process uses the results from the hearing test to select one of six pre-defined hearing profiles. Once the profile is programmed into the aids, you can make fine tuning adjustments to improve sound quality or speech loudness and understanding.
I am really happy with the aids. They perform better than my old Signia Silks.
Thanks for the info! I look forward to re-doing the test; just haven’t had the opportunity, yet. Overall, I think the aids are working nicely, too.
Now I’m getting really irritated at Sony. I had finally got the aids set up to my satisfaction, and then yesterday they did some sort of app reset so that I have to re-log in and re-set up the aids again! And only the day before I had, through the app, given them a good review because I was hoping at the end of the review I could leave a comment that they should make a way to store my setup information in case I have to re-set up my aids! I think Sony’s hardware is nice, but they seem to be 30 years behind in software development.
