Some Voices Now Sound Like They Have a Lisp

I have had the Trax 42s now for about 2 weeks. Several of my male colleagues sound as if they are speaking with a lisp. I did not have this with my last pair of hearing aids. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Thanks

Bob

post your audiogram. it will give us more insight.

Mention it to your fitter; they should adjust it in short order.

I did…she made an adjustment. But it does not seem to have resolved the issue.

If you lower the volume by one or two steps, does the problem lessen/go away? If you increase the volume, does it get worse or lead to feedback?

Not sure what you have for programs but with adjustments one can ask to make a stronger adjustment in an alternate slot. You can then move between them and have an idea of what’s next/best.

I added a signature with my audiogram.

you have a difficult lost to fit.

I previously used Unitron Moxis. I will try the left versus right issue later today. I have an appointment at Costco tomorrow. Hopefully they can resolve it. Unfortunately it doesn’t happen with every voice in every situation. For some people only detect it some of the time. For others it is constant.

Bob, do you find that one ear is my disposed to feedback or squeaking than the other? I was just wondering if this is kind-of a feedback issue, or a consonant recognition error.

I have that problem in the ear with higher correction. Hoping to get it resolved during my 2 week follow up on Thursday.

I get something like this every once in a while. I’ve noticed that changing programs and going back to automatic often clears it. There is also a “self” adjustment in the Trax 42 programming. Using this seems to have significantly reduced this problem.

I actually get this on my left ear, which has less amplification than the right.

Evil.

I have some feedback issues with the left ear also. I am right on the edge with the double domes. Sometimes, some frequency sets it off. Also, putting the hood up on my rain jacket does it. I have to back off the volume a bit to stop it. I think I may have to try an ear mold.

If I take out the right hearing aid it does not appear to be as strong.

I went in yesterday. The Hearing Aid Specialist switched me to double domes and made some adjustments to the programs. The lisping seems to be resolved but the audio level needs to be increased, so I am going back tomorrow. Interestingly, the volume control stopped working on the streamer after this last change.

There is a setting that allows the tech to disable the volume control. He maybe did it by accident.

If you are not using custom molds you aren’t getting your money worth out of them. If they have whatever they call their freq lowering program on have them turn it off.

Doc…why turn that off?

There is no place per the the audio-gram to lower to…

Back to single closed domes with some boost to volume. I am scheduled to meet with the Audiologist when she visits the store in March. Things are sounding better.
