SOLIVAGANT (Written on the one month "observation" of my partner's passing.)

We traveled life’s highway together.

Sharing thirty-four years and some more.

But back 'round the bend it all came to an end.

It was April, of Twenty and Four.

Your pathway has come to its closing,

But mine still meanders alone.

It feels so absurd to be searching for words

In this new and unused lexicon.

There’s a topic called “me” with the family.

There’s a topic called “I” among friends.

But, when it comes down to “us”

(And there are times when it must)

Then the whole world goes crazy again.

Yet, somehow, it all comes together.

And, somehow, the world carries on.

I will find my way through, but the topic of “you”

Will forever be part of my song.
