Hi all,
I’ve just purchased a pair of Signia Contrast S+ aids as backups for my NHS aids, currently ReSound Danalogic. I appreciate that they are the bottom end of the market but will be useful if the NHS aids fail, as they tend to do from time to time. Can anyone point me in the right direction regarding what I would need to program them ?
Thanks in advance.
One thing to consider, is that most NHS hearing aids are locked and can’t be DIY without the correct codes, most of the hardware requirements can be got from eBay easily enough tho.
Many thanks for the info. I didn’t realise that they are locked so that kills any thoughts on self programming them.
Signia Contast S+ is an NHS Aid so in a way, you should be able to get your money back as the seller has sold loaned items that don’t actually belong to the seller.
I realise this isn’t your actual picture but can you see how it says NHS on the box? Maybe send this to the seller to help get your money back?
Hi Zebras,
Thanks for the heads up. The ebay listing showed an almost identical photo with NHS on the box and I wondered whether the NHS were disposing of them as the seller stated that they were new - he had a number for sale. There are also a few other sellers on ebay selling these at varying prices. Do you know if the NHS are disposing of these as part of an upgrade program in order to introduce a different model or are they being obtained illegally ?
They are currently been dispensed by Specsavers BUT for the NHS. My Dads friend has just been issued them in the last 2 weeks.
EDIT - Or you could ask the seller if they have the unlock code, that might work?
So it would appear that they are current models and not ones that are being disposed of to make way for newer models. I will contact the seller and see what he has to say. I will ask if he has the unlock code but doubt if he will.
There are a few sellers on ebay selling the same model so I will ask a few questions about legality/unlock codes and see what transpires.
Many thanks for your help.
I can’t be 100% sue but it seems that the Contrast S+ has been around since 2019 but anyway, my Dads friend has just been issued them.
Hi,
Has anyone been able to get the NHS unlock code for the Contrast S+?
As this model does not have bluetooth , looks like it needs the size 13 pill type canle for the hipro.
Searching around on the net, seems most are selling the the phonak hipro direct to size 13 pill
But many threads says phonak is not universal to other brands, so would be safer to get the standard 44 cable and the size13 pill adopter
Yeah they look like the Motion models, they’ll need the CS44 cables and 13 pill adaptor, but they could be used with the ConnexxLink and connexxAir for wireless programming which is easier but a bit more expensive, but of course none is any good without that code.
hi,
just an update, on pair of new signia contrast purchase from ebay.
send to audiologist and it can be programmed and functional.Note that this pair are new in box with the NHS on the box.
This new ones fresh from Signia factory they are clean unlock.
On aids that have already been programmed by NHS Facility, they might be locked.
So your saying that brand new factory sealed are not locked and any Audiologist (or DIY) can program them, in other words your saying that it’s the NHS dispenser that “actives” the lock code?
Hi,
Yup,
I bought 2 of the contrast from a seller on ebay uk.
Gave them to uncle, he took them to his audiorligist here and they were program using the signia connexx software here in Singapore.
There seems to be lots of these aid floating on ebay uk in new box condition.
The use units as all the discussion going on are probably the one that have the lock code activated when program for patient at NHS Hospital.
Some of the sellers have many units and the feedback seems to 8ndicate the buyers are able to use them.
All very helpful, thanks for letting everyone know.
