I have had Bernafon Alpha 9 hearing aids for over a year. I am not very impressed. I went to a high street optician, hearing centre. I don’t think that I was offered a choice of make of hearing aids. This is the one that was fitted. I think on reflection I would have liked more choice, but I am not really up to speed on what is what is available. I use i phone, so connectivity is important. They cost over £3000. I find hearing difficult in a crowd or noisy situation. The fit of the molds is not good and the one in the right ear keeps falling out although this is the second impression. I find that they dip in and out of bluetooth, particularly annoying when on the phone. Is it the hearing aids or is it me?
Full disclosure: I use Costco, and I am on my third set of Phonak HA’s in ten years. I went there originally because they carry multiple brands at a very good price. I tried three different brands and settled on Phonak. I found that my hearing aid specialist was originally a bit reluctant to suggest Phonak, because she had no prior experience with the brand. After working with me, she became a real fan of Phonak until Costco quit carrying the brand. I suspect most hearing aid specialists have a brand they prefer. Based upon what I have read, most private audiologists carry a specific brand, and they will steer you away from anything else. If you have a Costco within driving distance, that would probably be your best bet for being able to look at multiple brands.

Well I go to the VA audiology clinics and I have my choice of aids. And I am definitely an Oticon person and have been for 14 years. I have tried all of the major brands but Oticon suits me because I am so use to the Oticon sound.
Yes good advice, just for the price alone! They have only the 3 brands at the moment, everyone hoping to see Phonak back eventually.
This is not acceptable, go back and get them to redo the molds to your satisfaction, the molds have to be “fit for purpose” if they keep falling out then it’s not fitted correctly, ask for the canal locks to help keep them in, if you already have them then it’s time for the skeleton or similar mold, near on impossible to move around or fall out.
