Setup Program

@Neville

I have a partner mic. CVA gave it to me. I don’t use it. Other half refuses.

CVA was heavy on gear.

I get cranky when I can’t hear

I’ve always liked the volume cranked up in my hearing aids.
Like my beautiful stereio system. Can’t hear? Crank it up!

Like Danes and Canadians over Hans Island :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I have just give a try DSL 5.0 Pediatric in my Paradise. First-fit NAL-NL2 (non-REM) is extremely too quiet for me.

No it is rather Phonak (order form was from Phonak website).

I do not really know.
I’ll find out.

@Bimodal_user

I remember seeing you post that…

I mentioned it to my hearing aid specialist. I see him again this Thursday (2 days)

I have the same objection.
My Paradise P90R’s are 3-1/2 years old (new/replaced by Phonak)

I always have to ask for more volume.
I always want more mid & high frequencies.

I started wearing hearing aids about 21 years ago; 78 now.

My wish:

Make changes in my Paradise P90R’s setup so I hear better using them.

  • Cant hear or understand speach in noise
  • Heck, don’t hear well in quiet!
  • Try to find that mysterious setup gremlin that’s messing up my hearing aids!
    after all–they were the best hearing aid that Phonak made when I got them!

Then surely the other half doesn’t get to ever complain about your hearing loss.

It takes 2 to mess up

The problem with those is they are meant for mild to moderate typical hearing loss.
You, unfortunately, have a much more complex loss, which requires prescription aids.
Custom molds, as @neville suggested, are a good starting point.
It’ll be important to make sure your provider does REM, and updates Target, for new molds.
If you get the old fashioned “Gunk” impressions stuffed in your ears, be sure to leave your mouth partially open so the ear canal will be optimised for the new molds.

It won’t be available to manufacturers until September. Who knows how long it will be until it’s in fitting software.

I know.
But
A thought. Noise cancelling
Good sound test.

I thought of using them on my e-bike.

If Apple made hearing aids. Real ones. I’d be after them

Thanks.

Medical equipment. Hah.

I’ve added Calm situation as an additional programme. The speech enhancer helps me a little.

You mean NAL-NL3? (and 20 characters)

Yes
Read about it here

I had checked out the resources section.

@PeterH

Thanks for the suggestion!

I want to learn more about self programming

i guess that we will have to wait to Phonak to integrate the NL-3 into Target. i hope it will be done asap. Phonak was never strong with the noise environment. as an old user, i always found that the older NAL firmware / software, are better for me

you can try one of the programs to be on oni-directional microphone. this will make that you will hear better who is in front of you, while side talks are low and you dont hear nothing from the back of you. be carfull dont use this on the road because you cannot hear cars behind you!

@Doron_Cohen

Thanks!

I had an appointment yesterday. A hearing test was done. So my Audiogram has changed. I’ll update it when I can

He has ordered cshells for me. Took moulds

@Neville
Has been helpful and I’ve taken his advice

I have the juvenile setup program installed now. I find I have to crank the volume up. I’m not hearing as well as I did with NL2.

I’ll pay attention. I can ask for help when I go back to have the inserts added.

One step forward. Two back.

Thanks!

What hearing aids do you have now?

How do they compare with the Phonaks you used to have?

I’ve had 3 pair of Phonaks.

I’ve struggled

@Zebras uses Oticons I believe. Hearing in noise has been awful with these Phonaks.

When it’s time I’ll look around.

My Practitioner sells mainly Resound. He isn’t pushing me to change brands.
