Hi,
Has anyone looked into self-programming requirements for the Linx2? I am currently set-up for Dot2 programming and the ability to self-program is part of the purchase decision for me.
Thank you!

No hands-on experience (yet), but you will need the following:
Linx 2 hearing aids of course
Airlink 2 (wireless connector)
Avanta fitting software 3.8 or higher. Beware of the 3.8.1 version: http://thehearingblog.com/archives/4477
Current version is 3.9.x, which you can download from the GNResound website as a zip-file, but you will need a password to unzip it.
After installing this you will need skills to actually perform the programming as you will be shown a screen full of options and switches that should make the best for you.
Have hands-on experience since a few days.
Linx2 and Airlink2 from eBay.
Avanta software can be downloaded.
Wired links can be through HiPro. You will need standard CS-44 cables and connecting boots available here: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Wholesale-Drop-shipping-and-Retail-HIPRO-Universal-Programming-Programming-Boots-for-BTE-GN-resound-hearing-aids/673651677.html
Note: you will need a wired connection for updating the hearing aids firmware.
Just doing my first steps in Avanta (coming from Connexx and a pair of Siemens Motion BTE), but it seems to work fine for now. Coming weeks will be interesting for shaping the programming. Connecting with my iPhone 6s went smoothly, including the ReSound smart app. The mini-mic is still under way.
I’m looking for a wired programmer, adaptor II, and cables, needed to upgrade firmware, too.
Have Aventa 3.9, AirLink II, and have taken the training courses available from AudiologyOnline site, bought a few audiology and fitting textbooks, so, feel ready to begin this adventure! Have already downloaded and saved my current configuration, so, ready to start making some slow and incremental changes to make my aids work better for me.
Thanks.
HiPro and CS-44 cables can be found here:
http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20160129095432&SearchText=hipro+usb
The specific shoes can also be found on Alie, but you might have to ask the seller for the correct type.
The type I is advertised: http://nl.aliexpress.com/item/Wholesale-Drop-shipping-and-Retail-HIPRO-Universal-Programming-Programming-Boots-for-BTE-GN-resound-hearing-aids/673651677.html
Shipping was swift and the boots work great. You may drop them a question if they also sell the type II as you obviously need.
Just noted that in your signature you state Linx2 62: these require the type I boot, not the type II.
Please see the fitting guide on: http://www.resoundpro.com/en-US/support/linx2support
Thanks for the info, but, confused on the Programming Adaptor I or II (Boot)? I don’t see one specified in the fitting guide you linked to, but, I did find the Cable Battery Guide (version MK603252 REV. J 2015.09), and for the Linx2 RIE 62 and BTE, it says either (Programming Adaptor I or Programming Adaptor II and 4-pin CS44 socket cable )? Since Linx 2 is newer, I would have thought that it would have called for the newer Adaptor, not the older one?
I saw the HiPro, and seeing as there’s not a lot of choice in buying anythng for Resound, guess I’ll get all from AliExpress. I assume others have used? I DO have the AirLink, so, only need all the other stuff for the firmware updates.
Thanks!
Assuming you have the Resound Linx 2 RIC you should look in the first line of the cable guide. This specifies that these ha’s can be programmed either wirelessly by Airlink or Airlink 2. The second column (numbers 1 and 2) does not apply to you as you don’t have a custom ha or a RIC 61 model.
The third column is split into a left half (number 3) which applies to Linx 2 models RIE 62 and all BTE’s with classic ear hook: these are programmed with a “programming adaptor I”. the right half (number 4) specifies the HA’s that need a “programming adaptor II”: several types of Versa, Alea, Vera and Magna hearing aids.
You will need the number 3 column: the adaptor I (one per hearing aid), the CS 44 cables (one per hearing aid) and a HiPro. I have a set of LS-988-DW and this setup works great.
The HiPro is universal for all types of hearing aids, so just get the one you like. There are 3 types:
Serial HiPro: these have a serial port RS-232 on the back side. Not recommended as most modern PC’s don’t have a serial port anymore and porting a RS-232 interface through a USB can be lots or trouble. Trust me, been there.
HiPro USB: recommended! These devices are widely available on Alibaba, eBay etc… They are not blazingly fast, but if you need them once for firmware updates they will do the job. Drivers can be downloaded from the ResoundPro site.
HiPro USB2: faster than the original HiPro USB, but a lot more expensive and harder to get. Not recommended for occasional use.
Hope this clears up things.
Wow, thanks for all that. I guess I was confused on the boot, as it used “or”… Am gathering up all the different things, and buying them, now.
any body knows where to get Airlink2 i asked this question over million times but never get an answer is there is alternative?
i own linx2
Yikes, don’t overpay for cs44 programming cables cables on alieexpress! I think a fair market price is generally $60 to $70 a pair (including shipping). And you can sometimes get them cheaper. For example, $50 a pair (including shipping) currently on EBay. Also note that the alieexpress price is for one cable. You need two (a pair)!
Here’s a link for the $50-a-pair on EBay (note this link will deteriorate over time)…

Oh, maybe you didn’t know that Oticon programming cables are the same as cs44 programming cables. They are! Click on the Epoq link in my Signature line to see an example.
Oticon #3 is longer and Oticon #2 is shorter.
Oticon cable #3 or HI-PRO #3 (2 meter)
Left: 384-20-015-01 Right: 384-20-014-00
Alternative NOAHlink #2 (50 cm)
Left: 384-20-023-01 Right: 384-20-022-00
The short cable (Alternative NOAHlink #2) only has 3 contacts on small end. Not standard cs44 cable.
The EBay seller referenced above was selling two pairs of cables (Oticon #3 and Oticon #2). Funny thing happened while I was explaining this. I bought the pair of Oticon #2 cables. Here’s why…
The Oticon #3 is 2 meters long (about 6.5 feet). These were always too long for me, a self programmer, sitting at my desk just inches away from the Hi-Pro. Even when I programmed for my wife, she was also sitting next to me at my desk just inches away from the Hi-Pro. I expect that these Oticon #2 cables, (50cm/20 inches) will work better for me without all the excess cable length.
The shorter cables were designed to work with NoahLink (or other wireless gadgets like nEARcom) that you hang around your neck and then plug in from that wireless device to your hearing aids/HAs. But since I am always close to the Hi-Pro I think the short cables will work just fine for me.
Also note that you don’t need NoahLink (hardware or software) to self-program your HAs.
Whoops >>FAIL<<. The short cable (Alternative NOAHlink #2) only has 3 contacts on small end. Doesn’t work. Needs 4 contacts!
I have a pair of GN ReSound Linx2 7 in the IIC form factor.
There is no wireless programming capability for these, so I need to do this with a Hi-PRO and cables.
Which cables and adapters/pills do I need? I am assuming I need 10A-sized programming pills, but I don’t know if the Oticon, Phonak, Siemens, Starkey, etc., that I see on eBay are compatible. Can I get any pills in the 10A size or is there a specific type that will NOT be compatible, e.g. Phonak?
Are there suppliers (eBay, Aliexpress, other) for the specific adapters/pills that someone can recommend?
Also, do I need any additional equipment to perform feedback calibration?
Thanks
Hi redelmfox
I was wondering whether you every found a reply to your questions
I have a verso 7 IIC and do not know what I am going to need and where I should get it from to program them on my own.
Help will be greatly appreciated !
I’m trying to find an Airlink2 at a reasonable price. Anyone been able to find a source? I’ve seen them for up to $350 and this is very similar to devices sold for $20. My understanding is that the programming software looks for the manufacturer ID and will not connect to other devices that do the same thing. I greatly need to make minor changes myself. Please help if you can.
