Seeking Help with MFi Bluetooth Issues on Starkey Genesis AI 24 with iPhone 15 Pro Max

Hello everyone,

I’m currently testing the Starkey Genesis AI 24 (mic R) hearing aids and am generally pleased with them—they’re a noticeable improvement over the Oticon Inspire that I initially tried.

However, I’m running into serious issues with the MFi (Made for iPhone) Bluetooth connection. It’s highly unstable: if I turn my head, the connection often cuts out, and when I’m on a call or streaming music, I experience static and distortion.

I’m using an iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 18.1, and I’ve also updated my hearing aids to firmware version 8.4.0, but unfortunately, that hasn’t resolved the problem.

Has anyone had a stable MFi connection with an iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 18.1—perhaps with a different brand of hearing aids?

Any advice or potential fixes would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Hi @PicoB, I had Bluetooth issues with Naida Lumity 90, and iPhone 16 pro, running 18.1, until I read an article in ZDNET, which stated, the first 18.1 update was a BETA version, so updated again to the official release, which was also named 18.1… Low and behold, it downloaded and installed, and the Bluetooth problems disappeared… Good Luck, cheers Kev

Thank you so much, Kev. I installed a copy of 18.1 and you were right, it helped a bit… but not all my bluetooth problems are resolved. Listening to media (Spotify music) has improved, not perfect but better. Phone calls are still frustrating, full of distortion and static. I am going tomorrow to meet with my audiologist. I’ll see what he has to say.

Thanks again,

You are most welcome @PicoB  a partial improvement is much better than no improvement! Good Luck in finding a permanent solution via your Audiologist… Cheers Kev

Hi , I Am Using Starkey Genesis AI 20 , Using Iphone 15 18.1 Update, Have Stable Connection With Hearing Aids , Audio Streaming Is Also Good No Problems Faced , Always Use Youtube And Shorts And Games. I Am Getting Notification And Call Sounds To Hearing Aids When I Was Away From Phone.

Negative :: Listening Audio Call Quality Is Bad And Other Person Can Clearly Listen My Sounds, Noise Cancellation Is Not Available During Calls.

Hearing Aid Firmware 8.3

Hi Harsha,

Thank you for your feedback. I went to the audiologist and we swapped to the newest Starkey Edge HA after testing a improved but not perfect bluetooth connection.
Listening to music streaming (Spotify) is hectic sometimes, acceptable at other moments. But not systematically reliable.
Phone calls work better, my correspondants seem to find it OK, on my end the sound is sometimes distorted and also, with crackling sounds. But less so than with the Genesis AI 20.
It is difficult to understand wether the problems are coming form my iPhone Model (15 Pro/ Max), the Starkey HA or my phone company?
Also, I have the feeling that it has something to do with being in very busy downtown neighborhood versus quieter streets.
I wish I could really get a decent stable quality with bluetooth, but that is not the case, eventhough changing the HA helps…

PS I think that Genesis firmware was 8.4 the last time I used them.
