At my local Costco today, I spotted this in the Hearing Centre advertising the benefits of rechargeable hearing aids. But these aren’t just any aids - they look rather like…Phonak Lumity. Or at least that case surely does. It didn’t look much like the Jabra, Rexton or Philips.
That also looks very much like the phonak/unitron to me. Also has the updated phonak/unitron charging case so is their latest product offering (phonak Lumity / Unitron Vivante). Good pickup and without knowing for sure I’d hazard a guess that Sonova product may be coming back to Costco as why else would they put their latest product, which Costco has never fitted on their advertising?!
Had it been a Paradise/KS10 in the shot then I’d have just thought it was recycled ad material. The apparent use of a Lumity HA made me wonder.
I’m in for my annual test next week so I’ll ask . The audiologist is new to the place and thinks highly of Phonak. If they do have a new Sonova device coming in, I’d be interested.
I think it is likely that Phonak will return with a second brand, like Unitron. That is what the Oticon parent company did - with providing a secondary brand, Phillips. This way customers know its from a good company but don’t know (though many speculate) that its really a rebranded Oticon. It provides less competition to the primary brand that way.
When Costco Kirkland rebranding it used, it is commonly understood that Kirkland brands are just rebranding to a House brand. So I assume other retailers of Phonak were hurt by the Kirkland 10.
The guy who works for Costco has just confirmed in his Youtube channel (The Hearing Club) that the next hearing aid at Costco will be the Jabra Enhance Pro 20 - which is effectively the Resound Nexia 9. This is the Auracast ready model.
