Brand new user of these HAs. Very pleased so far with the hearings aids themselves, still working on the phone tech.
Have it set up to use LE Bluetooth. Am using the HearLink app, and my phone’s battery is draining very much faster than usual. I like the app so far, and especially like the Find My Aids feature, but am curious if I am missing some settings to help this.
Googling around references things like “Background App Refresh” which is a term for Iphones. The similar terms of Background Data Usage doesn’t seem to be app specific on my Samsung, although Google seems to think it is.
Interesting as I have the INTENT1 aids ans Samsung S23 phone and I use the companion app, but very sparingly. The companion app as thr always connected option enabled so as long as my aids are connected to the phone my aids are connected to the app even when I close it. I don’t have any battery life issues and I stream audiobooks arlt least 2 hours a day.
Okay i am very curious why do you need to us that function so much. I have been wearing aids for 20 years and have never misplaced or lost even one hearing aid. I have experimented with that function once since it was first available a few years ago.
I’ve lost one hearing aid completely and Costco replace it. I lost another one since I had put in a pants pocket, but found it a little while latter.
I use a RIE with open domes. Since my lower hearing is good enough to hear most things without them, that is probably why I didn’t notice losing the first hearing aid.
Putting one’s hearing aids in their pants pocket is a recipe for losing them.
I started out wearing ITE aids, I made a promise to myself once I made the decision to wear aids that my aids go in my ears the first thing in the morning and don’t come out until bedtime. I have worn aids for 20 years now and never lost one. I have either worn ITE aids are MiniRite aids with custom ear molds.
My experience with Samsung was that turning off the find-my-phone feature allowed recharging less frequently.
I never lost an aid in my 1st 10 years wearing them. Then within a year, I lost the left aid 3 times due to bike crashes (the 1st caused by me, the 2nd and 3rd caused by truly over-entitled riders). In 2 of the 3 crashes, I was able to find my aids on my own. ‘Find my aid’ might have helped in the other case. Fortunately, Costco’s replacement benefit kicked in. (By the 3rd crash I had learned to check my ears before leaving the site.)
