Can anyone explain what Roger Ready does? I thought it was just setting the ratio between the hearing aid mic and the Roger Mic. Is this correct? I’ve been having difficulty hearing with my Roger Mics and my new pair of Phonaks. I’m a newbie to hearing aid programming and I’m wondering what types of things I can try. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Roger Ready just means the new Phonak HAs don’t need Roger receivers as they’ll work without.
Thanks for the post! My understanding is that that won’t happen until the end of next year (Marvel), is that right?
Can someone confirm that If I have the enable microphone unchecked in my Roger DAI program that that turns off the Mic in my Hearing Aids? Does the Gain & MPO in the fine tuning program affect the Roger Mic or only the Hearing aid Mics? The issue is my Roger Mics seem too loud with these new aids yet they work well with my old aids. I’m trying to make adjustments so that they will sound better. Currently I have the mic enabled uncheck but it didn’t sound that good with the default setting either.
I’m not familiar enough with the programming to make other adjustments. Any suggestions?
To provide a little more info…My right ear is pretty bad and the Audi programming currently is giving me a msg that says "The MPO of the right HA exceeds 132db (Ear Simulator). Should I be worried about that?
The Target software won’t effect anything to do with the Roger Microphones, only the settings within the HAs.
The Roger System will give you 10 dB of extra gain. If you’ve got 02 receivers, you can lower that gain down to just 2 dB of extra gain but you can’t do that with 03 receivers.
Thanks, but It still looks to me like I can control some settings that afffect Roger audibility from within Target under my Roger DAI program. It looks like I can either enable or disable the mic. I believe this is my hearing aid Mics. It also looks like I could control the Decibels of the mic in the aids if I leave them enabled. Am I missing something? Roger Mics sounded better for whatever reason with my other hearing aids.
Very frustrating!
How is the gain adjusted? Is it done with a touchscreen/inspiro mic. If so, will it stay at that new level indefinately (or until default receiver level is selected)? It looks like I have adjustments for + or - 8db for my type 2 Design integrated receiver. Am I interpreting that correctly?

The amount you select will stay at that volume. I’ve selected mine to be at +8 dB and it’s still at the range.
Yes it’s done via the Inspiro or Touchscreen.
Thank you!
So does that mean you get a 10 dB gain at the zero and you can increase or decrease it up and down from there, or are you backing it off from 10?
0 is 10 dB so it goes between 2 dB and 18 dB.
So really my + 8 dB is + 18 dB.
I actually got it wrong. RogerReady I believe is what makes your Roger program automatic so when you switch on your transmitter, the program will automatically change.
On my old Phonak Q90 Aids, it was called EasyRoger. On my Phonak B90 Aids, it’s called RogerReady.
Hi Zebra,
Thanks!
I noted the change in terms too from my Ambras (easy Roger) to my B90s (Roger ready).
I equate “gain” to Mic sensitivity but it appears that the mic audio seems to get louder or softer with these adjustments. Not sure I understand exactly what I’m adjusting?
Another issue that I’ve struggled with is trying to figure out If there is a way to get my hearing aid Mics back on and set well in the Roger program. Right now I have them off because things sound better.
This is how I have it set…
I feel like it sounds too loud using Roger when my hearing aid Mics are on but it leaves me not always hearing my own voice well and as a result I talk too loud.
I am looking for guidance related to whether changing the program that Roger uses to fine tune my hearing aid Mics would make a difference and if so what is a logical choice?
(Shown in red). What fine tuning is the default ?
I’m also wondering if altering the attenuation in the hearing aid mic when Roger is in use would help. (Shown in blue). I would like to hear my own voice better then I currently do when using Roger.
Roger ready won’t allow changes in attenuation but I’m told I could adjust the ratio between the two mics (Roger and HA) by building a manual program.
Has anyone done this?
You will find more settings for your Roger under the ”Program Manager”
Your blue circled dB setting has changed ambient sounds heard from the streaming device in my trials. I get this confused sometimes so try moving all the way one way and give it a try. Then the other to prove what it does and how you like it.
Ok, thanks!
I’ll give it a try.
On my B90 I can attenuate the Mics by holding down the program button on any program including the Roger.
This means I’ve got 1 x RogerReady program with Mics on and then I can attenuate the Mics by 30 dB or less when needed.
Also if you have the NoiseBlock set to aggressively, it actually reduces the Speech coming through the Roger Mic.
This just may be my problem.
Thanks
Thanks,
I’ll try it.
I have the long press button for attenuation too, thanks for reminding me! I only found out about it recently and I forget to use it.
