Roger On v2 w/CI

Hello.

I was just gifted a Roger On v2. I’m Bilateral user of MedE with Sonnet 2s & Rondo 3s. I know I need to find a couple Roger 21 receivers (this stuff is PRICEY! How’re people affording all this??) but wanted to see if any other MedEl users have experience with the Roger stuff?

Audiolink is not an option (crap connections) and their upcoming AudioLinkXT doesn’t change any of this. Plus, I’m not buying more converters and such because MedEl releases things meant for a TV from 1995, ports and all!

The main use will be hooked up to the TV so I can stream while other half whom can hear just fine, also watches the same show/movie/news/whatever.

Is the connection an issue with the Sonnets? Audiolink is pure static (tried 5 different device) and loses connection nonstop.
How is the sound quality? Is it the same as with AudioStreams? Better? Worse?
Anything else to know before I scour the web trying to find a cheaper option to buy a couple Roger 21 short of selling a kidney?

Thanks!

Assuming your Cochlear Implants have telecoils you could try a Roger MyLink with the Roger On. I have no idea how well it would work but would be cheaper than buying receivers.

MedEl Audio Link might be an easier and cheaper way to stream TV with your MedEl processors.

@Dani he has bilateral Med El. He might have some suggestions for a different way to get around your problem.

That was my first thought too but he says in his 2nd paragraph that it’s not an option because it has a crappy connection. Did a brief search online and it seems like this is a known issue.

Good morning America!
I actually use 2 Sonnet 2s and don’t have a Rondo. How can you, user1218, afford all of this? From what I’ve read from you you’ll probably be happiest with Roger 21.

The CI users I know (AB and Cochlear) are very satisfied with the Roger system and the streaming quality. I can’t judge that myself.

When I watch TV with the AudioLink, I just plug it into the jack plug (most modern TV still have a port for headphones, why do you think medel is made for TVs from 1995 only? It’s okay to have backwards compatibility). The USB cable for charging is not plugged in because it produces static. If I do need power at the same time I connect it to a mobile power bank instead. Then there is no static sound.

Most of the time I use the AudioStream in conjunction with my iPhone which is in front of the television. The quality is better than directly with the AudioLink. Even though there is a media break (speakers → air → microphone).
