How is the new handsfree micro feature for phone calls?
Take a surge suppressor with a cord attached.
I do; it saved my cpap machine when there was a thunderstorm in the middle of nowhere. Surge fried the tv in the same receptacle. If that happens to you, replace your surge suppressor. Cuz surges may have damaged it too…
Cord? wall plugs are never in the right place.

I have one set of hearing aids paired to an Android phone that has no simcard in it. The app only needs bluetooth to work with them. Maybe this would be a solution?
Sorry, what do you mean by “handsfree micro feature”? Are you talking about the Roger device? Cuz I don’t use that for phone calls at all. I am paired + connected to my Android phone for streaming phone calls. Can you clarify that?
Well! I had a couple more experiences with my Roger ON V2 device today: flying domestically and setting it up in a hotel room.
Air Travel
Total bust. I simply didn’t have the gear I needed. The domestic flight I took had just the USB port available for plugging in a device, plus an empty rack for folks to put an iPad or phone on. I’m guessing folks wear wireless headsets to connect to that device for music or shows. Since I had the Roger ON V2, its base and no portable battery to plug that into, there was no streaming. International flights seem to have more options for plugging in devices. But I should’ve foreseen this and taken my portable battery pack.
Hotel
Once I got to my hotel, I was THRILLED that the TV sat on top of a dresser - old fashioned style!!! WOOoOoooOO!! I’m in business! I got out my toslink cable, plugged that into the back of the TV, and miraculously, there was an accessible wall socket with ONE of the two outlets ununsed right behind the TV. So I was able to get a power source for the Roger base. I put the stick in the base, turned it to “Tabletop” mode, and instantly, I was streaming TV. This is the FIRST TIME ever since I’ve had a device to stream TV that I’ve had success being able to use it on the road.
Most times, either the back of the TV is completely inaccessible, or all the available wall outlets are taken with other appliances. I have to laugh, cuz now it’s a better streaming experience on the road with the Roger ON V2 than at home with my old TV Connector and a TV that I can’t get to the back of to plug in a toslink.
However! Since I was up at 3am, my wunerful RECHARGEABLE aids with the Roger license on them were DEAD 15 hours later. I had to swap in my backup aids without the Roger license and wait for an hour for the other pair to charge up enough to try my TV streaming experiment.
THIS is why Phonak needs to understand that lame, ineffective, sub-par rechargeable aids are a real annoyance to travelers. If these aids were battery-powered, I’d have a week’s worth of time to use them. But instead, I need to take TWO pairs of rechargeable aids on all trips to get thru my long days of travel. Then, at an inopportune time, I have to swap aids cuz one pair has lost its charge. Tonight it was midway through dinner. Luckily, I had the spare pair in my purse. I find it incomprehensible that Phonak refuses to release any new model for Lumity Life that’s battery operated.
Having slain many a battery operated HA I guess it’s a means of ingress. Easier to seal rechargeable aids• I guess?
Couldn’t you plug the dock into the USB port to power it on the plane? I’ve done that in cars…

I don’t mean to be impolite, but isn’t this whole thread about the Roger ON V2? Supposedly with the V2 you can use the Roger as an external microphone to improve the speech quality/audibility on the caller’s end. You might be missing out on some exciting and expensive features (microphone, roger app etc.)
Regards,
Thomas
Not at all - you are not being impolite, and I appreciate your comment because I am just learning about the features of this Roger ON V2 myself!
I am likely missing out on lots of uses for it, but am currently traveling, so I’ll have to really dig in and get familiar with the stick when I get home. I was given a loaner by the Phonak rep, and will likely buy it even if I don’t know all its uses. I’m really thrilled about being able to travel with it and stream TV on the road!!
No, cuz the USB port is located on the back of the seat in front of me. I’d have the cord dangling in air and have to lift it up or unplug it as dear hubs (or ME) needs to use the loo. Ah … I’ll just read a book on the plane and hopefully fine more than one hotel to use this on the road such as I’m doing right now.
EDIT: Dang keyboard put USP instead of USB.
Even so … I still LONG for a slimmer, lighter, more comfy to wear battery-operated Lumity Life. The last I heard, Phonak has no plans to make such a version on the foreseeable horizon.
To be honest, that’s the only reason why I chose Paradise P90 13T over any Lumity. I didn’t feel the few extra features were enough.

Just reporting in after a week on the road with my nifty Roger ON V2!! So far, so GOOD! To my amazement, I’ve stayed in 4 hotels and 1 B&B and been able to hook up my Roger in ALL the hotels, but not the B&B - which didn’t even have a TV in our itsy-bitsy ancient room anyway.
It’s been tricky, but I’ve managed to get both the power cord and toslink plugged in. Sometimes the cords are stretched TO THE MAX, but if I have to put a shoe on top of one to hold it in place, I will.
It’s awesome being able to stream the TV everywhere I go. I’ll likely have to get the MyPhonak app cuz I’m not able to MUTE the Roger during ads. It has to sit IN the cradle in order to stream audio, and it won’t let me change anything on the stick while it’s in the cradle.
If I take it out of the cradle, it stops streaming sound immediately, but I have sometimes placed it near the TV (or laptop) speaker just to get better audio.
I’ve got one more hotel to try out, and am hoping that’ll also be a success cuz I’ll be there a week (no doubt binge-watching “Forensic Files” or AmazonPrime shows!).
I’m thinking that the flexibility of this Roger ON V2 is an order of magnitude better than the old Phonak TV Connector I have at home. But it’s fabulous that I can travel with it, too, although it’s always a crapshoot if I’ll be able to get both the toslink and power cable plugged in every place I stay.
Sorry if I’ve missed it but how does it compare for sound against the tv connector?
ON works as TV connect but not better. It’s other features more significant.
The On doesn’t work in stereo for the TV, does it?
The TV Connector is stereo from my understanding.
I would always choose TV Connector over On for TV, myself
When I use my v1 it is generally stereo unless the source in mono. In table mode it is stereo if you enable MultiBeam 2.0. It is stereo for the media cable and the dock in both analog and digital modes. If your roger on is only in mono, I’d suggest resetting the associations in the Roger (hold the link button on the back for a good while) and then repair.

Great update. Not sure if you have an extra toslink cable for traveling, but here are some of the ones I’m using. I like having my TV Connector located up high in a specific spot in my house so it covers everywhere in case I need to walk around and grab a drink without it dropping the connection.
10 ft. Toslink to Mini-Toslink
26 ft. Toslink to Mini-Toslink
I also use this switched USB cable to turn my TV connector on and off from a convenient location.
It’s NOT quite as good! There is a harsh, “public address” quality to the streaming audio, but then maybe that’s an improvement if folks prefer SUPER sharp, almost crackling audio. By contrast, the Phonak TV Connector has a very mellow, smooth audio sound to my aids.
I can improve the streaming audio experience with the Roger V2 if I lower the volume on my aids - just take it down to the point where I’m still streaming WITHOUT picking up the ambient room noise, which would happen if I really turn the volume down.
The Roger V2 has a big advantage over the older TV Connector: greater distance! I can leave the media room entirely and still be streaming audio, and (comically!) if I walk out of my hotel room and get out to the car, the Roger is still TRYING to connect with my aids, evidenced by the connect/disconnect dingle-dong sound.
Hope that helps!
Yep, I’d agree with that! I love the small size and total portability of the V2. I’ll keep it in my purse and take it out to dinners or gatherings where I want to hear what everyone has to say.
That said, I DO have to add that my Lumity Life aids in “Speech in LOUD Noise” program does a phenomenal job in most enviroments. I hope to get in to my audi to have her refine the frequencies more, but as long as I’m facing the speakers, I can do pretty well when I cycle into that program.
