Roger On V1 Screen

Hello everyone, I need some help with my Roger On V1 microphone.

The problem is that the screen went completely black. I can’t see if it’s charged, connected, or what it’s connected to.

I’ve already tried updating the firmware and doing a factory reset, but that didn’t solve the problem.

The official Phonak supplier here in Guatemala doesn’t offer any real technical support—they only sell new units and don’t have spare parts or any repair knowledge.

I even opened the device to check the screen’s part number, but I couldn’t find any replacement parts online.

For context, I have experience repairing Apple computers and iPhones, so I’m comfortable with delicate electronics repair if parts are available

So I have two questions:

  1. Since Roger On V1 spare parts are very expensive on eBay, could I use the screen from a Roger On V2 as a replacement? (Roger On V2 units are easier and cheaper to find.)
  2. Is the Roger On V2 and V3 compatible with the Phonak Roger 17 Integrated Receiver?

Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated!

You could buy a cheap Roges on EBay that are advertised for parts only. I have not replaced a Roger screen ( too difficult for my old shakey hands) but I believe the screens should be interchangeable, I downloaded the MyRogermic app on my phone and paired the Roger to my phone. The app has the. Main displays seen on the Roger display so that is a useful workaround.

The photos are wonderful. You have done a great job opening up the Roger On V1. It really shows what is inside the Roger rom battery to the screen connection. I presumed you have found the caused of the “Black Screen”. If you have the table charger for the Roger ON, the label showed it is assemble/made in Vietnam. Check/Google the internet for Phonak/Vietnam, you might be able to find the factory website then request for the parts or buy the parts from Vietnam online website. Hope they reply to you.

Shooting in the dark is very troublesome. Hit or missed!

The other alternative is to follow @raylock1 advice. Raylock1 is great master in Roger On.

Download the following: -

  1. Roger upgrader into your computer from Phonak website - to check the connectivity. You will see the serial number, upgrading if necessary & etc.
  2. myRogerMic Apps into your iPhone or Android phone, then paired your Roger On with apps. You can control the Roger On with your phone Apps. This is what I doing.
  3. Roger On manual on how to pair with the phone. Remember every step on to pair. The screen is black. If you can pair - just a few steps. Once connected, you can control the Roger On via your phone. No needs to repair the screen.

Wish you success.
