RIC wire length

At the end of the day, the top of my ears are sore where the wire from aid (Phonak L90R) to custom shell leans on the top of my ear. I can see a small indented ridge on the top of the ear. I just wanted to confirm if making the wire longer or shorter will alleviate this issue.

My instinct says longer. Feedback appreciated. Any other tips to avoid this soreness?

I’d say longer to get the aid resting against the back of the ear and taking some of the weight off the wire on top of the ear. I’d also recommend using a coating of New Skin (you can Google it) on the track that the wire is leaving on the top of your ear. That helped me get over the initial soreness cased by the wire.

Are the receivers removable from the custom shell, if so the supplier of the aids can give you longer wire receivers … if not the custom shells will have to be remade

I had the same a few years back and the audiologist changed to one wire size longer on both sides. That totally fixed the issue.

Unfortunately not removeable from aid so have now been sent back.
