Just returned my Jabra’s when 1 stopped working. Taking opportunity with loaner, Reach to check that out.
The software on my phone… the AI option to increase sound… Does that reprogram the HA or will that stop influencing the HA if I turn off or close the App?
On the return from Costco, I had difficulty hearing my friend/driver. I was in the front passenger seat. I was questioning the HAs after that, but that was the only situation where I encountered that problem. What was that all about??? Cause they seem fine now - at home with just wife and son.
Maybe the program they were set for didn’t have the most appropriate microphones selected. If you’re interested in controlling the loaners using the app, Rexton does have one, for iPhone or Android devices.
Rexton’s assistant in the phone app can make changes to your aids and you have the option to keep those changes even after a reboot. Once you chose to keep the change it can only be removed in the fitting software at Costco or DIY if you have the software. As for car hearing depending on road and car noise I sometimes use the directional option to point to the person in the car and ignore the other directions. I also created a driving program (DIY) that I can access with the buttons on the aids to lower sounds from my left ear to reduce road and car noise to better hear my wife and radio.
Thanks!! Just the info I was looking for. My audi didn’t spend any time going over the options as they were just loaners, but I think I’ll be returning the Jabras and moving on to Rextons. One of my reasons was the loss of bluetooth to my Iphone at the gym. I’ll play with the directional stuf. I also watched the video here on the Rextons. Odd the guy who did that seems to be a principal of hearingtracker. Anyhow, he talked about the “Mask Mode” which may be able to do the same thing. So, given that you are able to tune in your wife… I asssume there’s a way to tune out mine???
Excellent comment - thank you!
When driving, one’s left (in America) ear is only about one foot away from the driver’s side window.
This can potentially cause feedback and it also creates a substantial acoustic imbalance, compared with typical listening situations. I have not (yet) seen much reporting or analysis about this obvious, but very common, proximity condition.
Thanks again!
Best, Bob,
As for changes made via phone, I can’t say about Rexton’s app, but the “myPhonak” app has the option to “save as new” rather than simply update an existing program of settings. Then, I can name it - like “TV vented domes” if I had changed dome configuration and was pending audiologist reprogramming for the new domes.
Program options within the Rexton Reach?? My current HAs are loaners. I believe that I’ve read about 5 possible optional settings… Perhaps Restaurant, Movie, Meeting, etc… I do not know what these settings are in these loaners. I don’t see an option in the Rexton app that might tell me and allow me to change. Am I missing something. Also, 4 rocker switch type buttons on the HAs. Please advise what they do,
I’m a bit suspicious that Costco is pushing the Jabras to the detriment of other HAs. I read that Costco has an exclusive with Jabra. And it seems everyone reports back that their fitters at Costco seem to suggest the Jabras.
The “Lessons” are only available if your audiologist has assigned you tasks to do as a means of making you familiar with the hearing aids. They aren’t pre-loaded into the app by Rexton.
Jabra Enhance hearing aids not only have AI assisted noise reduction and the ability to stream via Bluetooth, they also have a microphone in the receiver so it’s in the ear canal. That’s pretty unique. I don’t blame them at all for recommending them.
Edited to add: They’re rebranded Resound Vivia HAs. My wife has a pair of Vivia HAs and loves them.
