Rexton Reach cic

I would really appreciate any feedback on the new Costco Rexton Reach cic rechargeable hearing aids. I don’t really need streaming, but would appreciate the use of an app they apparently have for tweaking volume and tone.

I just got them last week and I’m really liking them. I also have a Phonak demo pair for the last month that had $5800 programming, then $3800 programming. Yes, the audiologist said only the demos can be programmed this way. The 5800 programming was my first ever HA and it was OK, I ususally dropped the volume a couple of notches because it was too loud. Music listening was, shall we say soso. Changing to the 3800 programming, the higher frequencies were kind of wispy, exaggerated s’s and t’s but otherwise I couldn’t see the advantage of $2000 more dollars. Now with the Rexton Reach I’m finding it’s more balanced over the full range and music is nicer to hear through them. The top end is crisp but there is a setting to turn that down in the app. So far it’s my choice for purchase. I have one more brand to test this Friday and then I will make a decision unless I decide to purchase the Philips from Costco also and compare that to the Rexton and return the one I don’t care for. I’m trying to put into words what the Phonak did to music but it’s hard. It’s like the midrange was all compressed together too much. Not enough air or space between instruments.

Thank you so much! I have an appointment booked for Feb.6 and your feedback is very much appreciated.

I just got them yesterday (Rexton Reach inoX-CIC Li 80 specifically, but they are also named Reach IX-CIC Li 80 at Costco), my first HAs so I don’t have anything else to compare to. I am still adjusting, but I was surprised that everyone sounds mostly natural. I have moderate-severe high-freq loss and everyone said I would do better with RIC, but these vented-dome CIC are not bad at all.

I did a huge deep dive on these and HAs in general prior to purchase. These are (likely) the same as the Signia Silk Charge&Go IX and the new Sony rechargeable CIC’s, probably only a firmware/software difference.

Since I’ve only had them less than 24hrs and they are my first HA’s I can’t offer much feedback, but I will be writting a review on these forums in a month or so. Luckily, with Costco you can return them up to 3 or 6months in, I forget which.

Only downside is that I am getting quite nauseous from the new brain stimulation and cannot wear them long right now.

So sorry you’re feeling nauseous. You absolutely can ease into getting used to them limiting the time wearing them with Costco’s generous 6 month return exchange policy. I’m a first time HA user as well and have researched to the point of my eyes crossing! Thank you for confirming the models. I’ve tried the Oticon Own premium 20 channel RICs for a month and the sound and comfort was okay. But bumping into it taking my glasses on and off several times a day was really bothersome to my poor old ear, so they didn’t work for me. Previous month I tried the Oticon Own CICs with a custom made ear mold and found the CIC’s were more convenient, but the sound was quite echoey. And at HearingLife both Oticon types were 3 times the price of the Rextons. So I’m hoping the Rexton CIC open dome tip will improve my full ear/echo type interpretation of sound. Crossing fingers! Thank you again for all your great research and best of luck with your HAs.

Omg my ENT was connected to a HearingLife center and they sent me right over (before I knew ANYTHING about hearing aids). Was quoted between $6-9k CAD and that was during their Black Friday sale! Of course they never mention that HearingLife is just an Oticon reseller. They immediately pushed either the Intents or the Own CIC/IIC with custom molds.

I was leaning towards the Oticon Own CIC, but thank god I did my research for the following month and found that instant-fit CIC with vented domes might actually work better for occlusion and autophonation issues. After government and insurance discounts it came out to about $1000 CAD at Costco for the Rexton Reach iX Li 80’s.

Interesting to note: I don’t know much about the Rextons, but since they are essentially the Signia Charge & Go iX they are brand new tech. The Owns (released 2022) are based on Oticon MORE chips (which are 2020…not the new Intent chipset!). I read all the PDF tech/sales manuals and while all these hearing aid providers are VERY tight lipped about what tech they use, I did see that the Owns use 28nm chips. 28nm chip fabrication was released in… 2010!
So they are asking $8000 for a chip released FIVE years ago based on FIFTEEN year old chip fabrication, and selling it as ‘the latest, greatest and smallest’.
For comparison; the latest iPhones and Android phones use a 3-4nm process.

I am glad I choose Costco and the Rexton CIC.

Wow thank you again for your expertise! Exactly what happened to me. I too went for the Black Friday sale at HearingLife and was quoted $7k cad for Oticon Owns. Plus told they were the latest technology and nothing new was expected anytime soon. So after being disappointed, I returned them and read up on the new rechargeable Rexton Reach CICs at Costco. They seemed like the right choice and I figured even if they didn’t sound perfect to my ears……I’d rather be not satisfied at $2600. than $7000.:rofl:

No problem, I know it’s a very tough space to navigate. The articles here on the main HearingTracker site really helped orient me as well, so make sure to read them.

This might be their sales person’s lack of knowledge, or just more willful ignorance; but I heard rumors on this forum that Oticon is actually releasing a new CIC in 2025. This would make sense as their Owns are quite old tech as mentioned.
I assume the new CIC and maybe IIC’s would take the current latest gen Intent chipset (which has their DNN 2.0 (Neural Network chip) and other modern enhancements). The Intents have had really good reviews and considered one of the best (if not THE best) HA around. So I am actually curious what their new CIC will be like. I’ll wait for reviews and if needed, might get those to trial if these Rexton instant fit CIC don’t cut it long term. Anyway, remains to be seen!
