Rexton Quintra 2c, Costco's newest?

and I have read enough reports about the former versions of the ReSound *Kirkland HA’s being unreliable.[/quote]

Previous Kirklands were made by Rexton -not Resound.

Oh my. I wonder were they the same model as the new Rexton Quintra 2C? and should I be concerned about reliability of the new Rexton then? Hmmm. Still, the Quintra 2C sounded better to me at suppressing background noise like carts in Costco while amplifying speech. Better than the Kirkland signature 5.0 model.

I understand that the Quintra 2c is for the most part the Siemens Rexton Strata 2c. I am into my 4th week with my Quintras and so far quite happy. Since this is my first venture into the world of hearing aids I still feel that I need a few adjustments. Some TV voices are still a problem but other than that I am a “happy camper”.

Very encouraging about the Quintra 2C. Why did you choose them over the Kirkland Signature 5.0 or other models? The Quintra 2C’s are not the cheapest.

Rechargeable, Bluetooth and possibly size. Have not purchased Bluetooth unit but it is there if I want it. Also, I felt comfortable with the recommendation that I was given considering my life style. Since this is my first venture into HAs I was flying blind and had to rely on research and recommendations.

I agree! I tried both the Sig 5.0’s and the Rexton Quintra 2C’s in a variety of situations while in the store. (I have had Bernafon for the past 4 years and they have been nothing but problems, especially with moisture. I have had the Bernafon’s back for service about every six months. No more Bernafon’s for me.) I tried an objective comparison between the Sig 5.0’s and the Rexton Quintra. I got into situations where there were multiple conversations going, loud background noises, individual conversations, listening from front to back and side to side as well. As much as I wanted to pick the Sig 5.0’s because of the $700 price difference, I just couldn’t justify it. I did switch between the two aids at least a half dozen times in those different situations and the Rexton’s were much better for me. They sounded crisper, more natural, considerably easier to decipher voices and were more comfortable. I ordered a pair of them and they will be in this Friday. I am looking forward to getting them, and retiring my Bernafon. I will give an additional update after I have worn the Rexton’s for a few weeks.

Why do many people go with Costco HAs instead of with Siemens, Widex or Phonak? Is it mostly the cost issue, or do some people actually prefer them? Just curious.

Costco HA’s are made by major manufacturers. The Signature 4’s were rebranded Siemens and the Signature 5 is a rebranded ReSound.

People buy them because you are getting a $2000+ HA for $900.

thanks palmfish, but does Costco carry the latest (rebranded) high-end HAs? For example, can you now get from Costo HAs that are as good and have the same features as Pure Micon 7s?

Costco’s Kirkland Signature 5.0’s are: Resound, Costco’s “Rexton” Quintra 2C are essentially Siemens Strata 2C etc. …Costco is less expensive, offers 90 days risk free/return policy, 3 years repair and replacement, usually very qualified Hearing Aid specialists. I can’t see why NOT to use Costco.

The Costco HA is basically a rebranded ReSound Verso 9. It is a high-end HA with all the features you would expect - auto directional mics, selectable listening modes, noise suppression, binaural modes, e2e, bluetooth capability, iPhone app control, TV linking, etc.

I don’t know anything about the Pure Micon 7, but I looked at the Siemens website and see it has some features that the Costco Signature 5 doesn’t. Specifically, the Costco HA doesn’t have a recargeable battery or tinnitus masking feature.

You should do some research on the features that are important to you and compare them. I only just started learning about HA’s myself since I’ve never worn them before. I’ve just spent the past few weeks reading and reading and asking questions and reading some more…

I tested the Rexton Quintra 2c at Costco and felt it blew away the Kirkland Signature 5.0 (Resound). I was very impressed with the Quintra 2c and also liked how small it is, and it appears to be very well built and has great seals to resist moisture, sweat etc.

The Rexton Strata 18 is not the same as the Siemens Pure 7mi. Some features have been reduced or taken out in the Strata. For example, Strata has 36 channels/18 gain handles/5 equalizer settings while Pure has 48/20/6. Strata is also missing the tinnitus masker.

Rasmus, my follow-up question would be: In your opinion, could a user without tinnitus issues expect substantially the same performance from the Quintra as from the Pure 7 Micon, other than the ability for finer tuning with the software on the Pure? Or is that ability to provide finer tuning a crucial difference? From reading HAF I have gotten the impression that a greater number of channels is not that significant.

None of the differences are even remotely consequential in my opinion, except the tinnitus feature. For most purposes, the devices will perform identically.

I stopped by last Tuesday, and my appointment was set for Friday. Tomorrow, a week after I first stopped by, I will have an appointment to pick up my Rexton Finesse 2c hearing aids.

ziploc, you might be interested to know that a version of the Strata almost became the new Kirkland Signature 5.0 Premium Hearing Aids, but Rexton lost the contract to ReSound.

I placed my order for a pair of Rexton Quintra 2c’s yesterday at Costco. My HAS truly believes the technology provides superior audio quality, processes faster and therefore sounds better. And is better able to distinguish and separate background noise from focused, localized speech. This was my personal experience in the brief demo I did. With the 90 day trial/return policy, I decided I wanted to start here rather than fuss with Kirkland Signature 5.0’s that simply did not isolate the background noise from speech nearly as well. (Again brief demo, but my HAS has a LOT of experience and I bought my first pair of HA’s from him 6 years ago) I believe he is very good at what he does and that he doesn’t sugar coat anything.

My new Quintra 2c’s might be in Thursday for fitting!! …and there is a special I was told …so I get the Remote Control for free. Cool. …although its pretty big and bulky. Don’t imagine I will be carrying it around with me. My HAS said I can make all the adjustments on the HA’s themselves …but the Remote gives me a visual way to adjust settings.

The Rexton Quintra 2c HA’s used 312 sized Batteries. Can anyone tell me how many days of typical use I will get before needing to change the batteries?

I’ve only been through one set with my new Quintras, but it was over eight days of 12-14 hours per day.
