Resound SmartFit/Assist software?

Been perusing the forum, but even relatively recent topics don’t seem to have any valid download links. I have the Resound Nexia 9 (NX960S-DRWC), and my supposed “fitting” with an audiologist was more a 5-minute youtube video on basic features. Even as a “new” hearing aid user, I know enough that I should be able to expect a lot more. Long story short, rather than going back to that buffoon, I would like to just be able to adjust the settings myself.

I know I need a Noahlink/Airlink device, and I am shocked by how much those cost nowadays (several not-so-old posts discuss prices in the $50 range–they are at least 3x that now…), but I am also intrigued with the “Resound Assist” software, which claims to be able to remotely program HAs that are attached to the smartphone of the customer! What this means to me is that it should be possible for someone with the SmartFit and Assist software to “remotely” program their own HAs, while they are attached to their smartphone, and WITHOUT the Noahlink/Airlink device at all!

I found a semi-sketchy website that will “sell” me the SmartFit software for $20, which frankly, I would do–I’m just worried it’s no more legit that a dropbox link, so why waste the money, while still not sure that I’m downloading malware-free software?

Anyway, I would dearly appreciate a download link for “SmartFit 2.0”? Would also love the Assist software! Also, any cheap places to look (eBay?) for Noahlink type devices–esp if the “Assist” software is still unavailable… TIA!

Welcome to the forum, sure you’ve come to the right place for all things in hearing care, your Nexia models are a great model and it’s the Noahlink wireless programming devicoe you’ll need ( the original Airlink is very hard to come by, those cheap $50 just a one time deal by a seller off loading the last they had) the Noahlink wireless has always been in the $160 -200 price range since it was released, it’s a great investment as it’s the industry standard for programming, so you’ll be able to program all the other brands as well if you ever decide to change in the future.
I wouldn’t bother with the remote support, leave that to the clinics to play around with, you won’t need it, it doesn’t make sense because you have to make the adjustments in SmartFit anyway! obviously not everything can be done remotely anyway. So yeah you don’t need to pay for the software, a bit cheeky of them to try selling it!
eBay and Amazon seem to be the place to try, still even at 200 a good investment long term.

I don’t think I explained it well. The remote assistance software supposedly allows someone with the SmartFit software to remotely adjust the HAs while they are attached to nothing more than the customer’s smartphone.

In short, as I understand it, if one had the SmartFit software, as well as this Assist software, one could essentially “assist” themselves, using the SmartFit software on their computer to “remotely” (even though the “remote” smartphone might only be a few feet away) manage the HAs through a Smartphone–no Noahlink device required!!!

In short, with that software, I could theoretically manage my HAs without a Noahlink! And I think we can both agree that is a nice option over spending $200 for something I plan to use but rarely…

Regardless, I am open to getting a Noahlink. I just thought that if someone had the SmartFit software, they might have the Assist software too…

Oh no you explained it well in your first post as I’m aware of how remote support works, but my point is you have to make the adjustments on SmartFit first anyway right, and then send it through to your phone, if you use the Noahlink wireless you can make the adjustments in real time and no smartphone or internet connection needed! just doesn’t make a lot sense really?
The 200 becomes an investment over a short period of time, if you keep a watchful eye on eBay used one’s do come up and you’ll get a bargain.
It’s actually activated through the SmartFit software, no extra software that I know off, one thing tho is do you need an account to activate before using.

Not sure what you mean, as the initial adjustments to my HAs have already been made? And I already own the smartphone and internet connectivity, whereas I don’t yet own a Noahlink, so a solution that uses what I already have makes a lot of sense to me!

Also, both options are still “real time”. It’s not the same path, but it’s real time. ALL adjustments are still made through SmartFit, just one goes “SmartFit > BT > Noahlink > HAs” and the other way goes “SmartFit > Network > Smartphone > HAs”. In any case, I think you are also saying that the “Assist” is not a standalone software app, but rather, simply a feature in the new version of SmartFit. In which case, the point is moot!

Lastly, what kind of account? An account on resound? I did start to create one of those, but it’s just a regular account, not as an “approved professional” or whatever they call it where they validate your account before letting you just download the software directly from their site…

Yes and your gonna make more so without internet and a smartphone you can’t do this is the point I’m making, remember there’s some things that can’t be done, feedback test is something you’d want to do when you make adjustments, changes to the acoustics etc
But each to their own in this respect.

Yes an pro account with resound, I don’t know but you’ll find out soon enough if it’s needed as I’m sure you’ll be trying this out tonight! possibly your audiologist has already activated this feature anyway, should be interesting how you get on.

I see what you are saying. It does seem like the device is going to be at least highly beneficial, if not necessary, for the initial setup. You convinced me…

The cheapest Noahlink Wireless 2 I found was out of England. Paid about US $164 shipped. Even chinese knockoffs on eBay were all around $200. Not here yet, but I will definitely update after I am able to give it a try.

As for the pro account, I thought you said that one of the benefits of this device is that I didn’t need a smartphone or the internet to use it. If that’s the case, how would the software know whether I had a “pro” account or not?

Anyway, thanks for all the tips (and the link!).

Yeah the Noahlink wireless is
Plug and play no Pro account needed, you’ll be good to go as soon as you get it.
