Resound Omnia vs Phonak Lumity

Hey everyone. This might be my final update on my ongoing competitive shoot-out between the new Phonak Lumity L90-RT’s and the Resound Omnia 9’s. Bear in mind that this is what works for me and may not work for other people with different hearing loss profiles.

The short answer is that it wasn’t much of a competition. The Phonak Lumity hearing aids were just so much better than the Resound Omnia’s that I don’t want to give them back. I hear better in every single way with the Lumity’s. Speech in noise is incredible. Speech from different directions is also incredible. Music sounds fantastic…almost as good as ear buds. Bluetooth is solid. That being said, the Resound Omnia’s were better than my previous hearing aids (Resound Quattro 9’s) and the Omnia’s seriously kicked Phonak’s butt on rechargeable battery life (Lumity - 18 hours, Omnia - 30+ hours).

I met with my audiologist this morning to give back the Omnia hearing aids and to arrange to purchase the Phonak Lumity’s. They are so good I cannot give them back and go back to the Resound Quattro hearing aids. It’s kinda like when a friend gives you a taste from his top shelf $500 bottle of scotch. Everything else tastes awful afterwards. The purchase price (which I won’t share) is very high but I’m an exec at an IT company and I really cannot survive without hearing well. They have also given me the ability to enjoy music again, play the guitar and to once again venture out into extremely noisy venues (i.e restaurants) with confidence. That’s worth something to me.

So that’s my update. Feel free to post questions in this thread and to message me privately with questions. Happy to help everyone out and sincerely hope my ongoing comments have been useful.

Cheers!
