Resound Linx2

this is so backwards i dont think you have ever been to the VA…

Sam, Jakey is a retired VA audi drone. You can tell that, while he still needs to work on his bedside manner, his VA review all called him outstanding.

sammy is just another troll… not sure we ever heard what kennys claim to fame is.

DEFINITION
TROLL n. anyone who disagrees with Jakey’s view of his universe.
[Jakey] See: god

well kenny you always seen to side with the trolls until they come out. its obvious that this person has never been close to a VA center.

Need an explanation of why he’s a troll from your august personage, Jakey. It seemed to me he went to great detail to describe his clinic visit. Doesn’t look like he made it all up.

he went 4 years with one aid working - wrong unless he didnt ask for a replacementPoPPoo

never sees the same audi twice - wrong unless he takes the first available appointment

shows up for appointment and audi not there - bs, they send snailmail, they show appointsments on the Health Vet calander and they call a few days ahead to comfirm.

made him switch to the resound product - probably the least popular manufacturer amoung VA audis

resound doesnt support VA products - the manufactuers begs for VAs business

if he thinks the audi needs heeds help ask to have the resound rep on site. all manufactuers have reps that only service gov contracts.

cant even make sense out of earmolds sticking out of his ears.

i would like to see his audio-gram

every VA clinic has access to damn near every current product available and should stock replacement… nus

again, all he needs to do is escalate his problem.

That doesn’t make him a troll, Jakey. Like most of us, he is showing up here lacking crucial information and knowledge. Calling him names does nothing but hurt another person. You state all the things that couldn’t/wouldn’t/shouldn’t happen at the VA. His experience says otherwise. Are you certain every VA HA clinic was as well run as yours evidently was?

As for escalating, he is a new user at the clinic and it is hard to go through a lot of hassle and expect not to be hassled by the audis in that clinic for doing all you suggested. You’ve heard of payback. The real problem seems to be a bureaucracy that can lack accountability. You know what went on in Phoenix.

I am sure there are many great people at the VA. But we know that isn’t all encompassing.

I’m sorry that this thread has gotten so far off subject, Sam.

First, the issue of the HP. There are 8 versions of the LiNX[SUP]2[/SUP]-9 in the RIE instruments. That is, there are 2 form factors and 4 power levels in each.

The 961 form factor (shell) uses the 312 battery. The 962 form factor is a little larger, uses the 13 battery and has dual function control buttons which control volume and program selection.

The four power levels are LP, MP, HP and UP. Low Power, Medium Power, High Power and Ultra Power, respectively. To my knowledge, all 8 versions use the same RIE. If you use this link, you can download brochure that shows you the specs for each model:

The streaming devices can pair on any one of three channels. It sounds like you have both the TV Streamer and the Mini-Mic paired on Channel 1. You should unpair them and pair again, putting one on Channel 1 and the other on Channel 2. Instructions in the manual tell you how to do that. Doing so should give them separate buttons.

Bill

kenny i could give rats ass whether or not he gets what he wants… maybe he went in with a hard-on and got on the shit list. if all he wants is to cry and come on here looking for a pity party he found you. if he went 4 years with only one aid working he should grow a pair.

I have the LiNX 2’s and recently went to get the software upgrade due to streaming issues, but will have to go back on Friday since neither my iPhone 6 Plus nor the Resound app recognizes my right aid.

I know I should have checked that before I left the office, but there was this elderly couple waiting almost an hour and since I had successfully paired my aids before with my phone, I thought I would take care of it myself at home.

While observing the hearing aid specialist trying to install the upgrade, with the help from a Resound rep on the phone, I thought to myself, I could do this.

I see links mentioned in this thread to download the software.

My question is, can anyone download this software to adjust their aids? Don’t you have to be a hearing aid specialist? If so, how do you get an interface? I don’t mind purchasing these items if it gives me the option to fine tune my aids at home.

I’m almost afraid to ask any questions for fear Doc Jake will come after me, so please be kind!

You can watch a video on their website on how to pair your phone. Also in your user manual.

Thank you for your reply.

I previously successfully paired my aids with my phone when I first received them, so I am aware of what to do. Frankly, there is not much to do, they practically pair themselves.

There was an issue during the upgrade, where the specialist’s software initially did not recognize the right aid, which is why she called Resound for help. After a few tries, it appeared she was able to install the upgrade, or so I thought.

The fact that my phone and the app recognize my left aid leads me to believe there is some sort of pairing issue with the right one, which is why I am going back and we will once again get Resound on the phone to solve this issue.

Both my phone and the app were successfully paired with these aids when I first received them, which leads me to believe there is either a new issue with the upgrade or a problem has developed with the right aid.

Diane,

1Try turning your iPhone off and on after making sure and previous pairing is removed. Then try to pair as previously.

2 If this does not work then try resetting network settings on your iPhone then repairing. But make sure you know your wifi network password because your network settings on the phone will be gone. I had to do this after one of my aids was replaced.

Good Luck

Thank you for your reply. I have already done what you mentioned in #1. As far as #2, our home wifi network is quite complicated, so I will not attempt to make matters worse.

The fact that my left aid was easily paired prior to doing anything leads me to suspect there is an issue with the right aid, otherwise neither aid would have been paired. The hearing aid specialist’s software was also having trouble recognizing the right aid prior to the upgrade. No problem with the left aid.

I will be seeing the hearing aid specialist tomorrow. I would imagine she will call ReSound to help resolve the issue.

I will post my results.

Thanks again for your help!

Update: Saw my hearing aid specialist this morning. It took an hour and a half with the ReSound tech on the phone, pairing and unpairing the aids from the iPhone, but after reloading the software in both aids, all is well.

Thank you to those that tried to help!

Hi, I am also replacing my 5 year Oticon Agil’s and thinking of going to the Resound Linx2. How are you liking yours? What’s the battery life like?
What’s the sound like vs the Oticons? Would appreciate all the comments you can provide. I have all Apple products so they will connect well.Thank you!

Going from Oticon Agils to Resound Linx2 is a major downgrade. Even despite the fact that Linx2 is a brand new product, it has a smaller dynamic range, an older fitting rationale, lower quality speakers and amplifiers, only 1 kneepoint as opposed to 2, inferior directionality, inferior binaural communication and shorter battery life. Depending on your price range, if you are upgrading from Agil, really the only devices better are the newer Oticon Alta and Alta Pro, Oticon Nera2 Pro, and Oticon Alta2 and Alta2 Pro. Every other device on the market has inferior specifications compared to Agil. The ONLY advantage to the Resound Linx2 is the iphone functionality. If those Oticon devices that I listed are not in your price range (The Nera2 Pro is usually pretty reasonable), I would recommend Starkey devices for iphone compatibility or Phonak devices as a good runner up for sound quality.

I went from Agils (not Agil Pro) to Linx2 9s. My Agils were great but I love my Linxs. Not just the iPhone functionality, but the sound quality is better, I can understand conversations in challenging environments more often, and people have told me I’m not asking them to repeat as often. With the iPhone functionality - now that I have the firmware upgrade, my hearing aids stay connected all the time and it works really well.

Hello! For those of your with linx2. Did you get the 312 of 13 battery models? I have the 312 and am nearing the end of my trial period. Trying to decide which model is better.

also! Do any of you have any issues with streaming cutting out when the phone is in your pocket? I had the firmware upgrade but I still have issues if my iPhone 5s is in my pocket.

thanks!

Personally I’d choose the #13. That’s more true if you stream. 312 is a marginal power which translates to certain under power situations and battery life.
