I have been rying many different HAs. I find them on EBay for sale used so I get to try even expensive HAs for cheap. But no current ones, just older ones . They are all unsupported so I cannot get much info on them.
In all my trials three have stood out for ME. ReSound LiNx2, ReSound Canta 2 and Simplicity. The cheapest one, Canta 2, was the BEST one. And would be perfect except for the feedback ringing that I cant seem to stop. It doesnt bother me, but drives everyone else, including my cat, nuts. But even last night at a Birthday party in a restaurant I had no trouble with the conversation.
The Simplicity was next in line, perfection, but the ones I want, BTE, are not available anymore and the one I had was a loaner. I think the open cones may have been the clue to its success.
The LiNx 2 was good and it has a lot of features like the ability to program it (which may be a detriment).
Does this list tell anything about what kind of HA is best for me.? Are there others that this list would suggest that I should try?
What are you using for fittings? The most direct way to stop feedback is with a fitting that has a smaller vent. It would also be helpful if you posted your audiogram. See the “My Audiogram” link at the top right of the page in the blue bar.
If this aid is a BTE type using a tube, there should be options to get custom molds made with small vents that would go a long way to reducing feedback.
Your left ear is down 75 dB at 3 kHz. That is likely the bad actor for feedback. You should be able to tolerate larger diameter vents in your right ear, than in your left ear.
The plugs in my ears have no vents. I am using a smaller plug in the right ear and a larger one in the left ear. with a little fiddling I can stop the feedback.
How can my hearing affect the feedback when there is no volume control on these HAs. There is a button that apparently selects between two programs. One beep is low freq and two beeps is high freq. best as I can tell. The on/off switch is opening and closing the battery compartment.
