Resound Cala 8 Costco

Hi I just ordered Resound Cala 8 IIC from Costco. While I am yet to get them to test them out, I would like to ask a few questions

  1. The audi at Costco told me that dont have wireless capability, Does that mean I will not be able to connect them to my smartphone?

  2. Does that mean IIC lacks the features that the app provides such as Noise Cancellation and Speech focus etc.?

  3. Does anyone know if they are same as LINX2, and what features do the IIC ones have? Do they have Noise cancellation in general?

Apologies i stand corrected. Ramus has already answered the capability bit in another thread and yes you are right the 11C is NOT Wireless.
By definition that might make the 11C not able to connect to an IPhone directly, and or might not have the inter-connectivity to give the spacial sense features.

The manufacturers write up seems to suggest that as its deep in ear canal then it has more natural spacial sense advantages (without being wireless)? and wind noise is reduced by the mics being protected by the ear itself?

Not sure if it connects to the IPhone or app it realy does not say. However there are some aids that communicate with the phone (by high frequency sound) they work without a wireless connection. Not sure if these do or not. Only time will tell.
Sorry cant be more clear on this part.

I reproduce Ramus post here for you.

ReSound Cala is a family of RIC, BTE, ITE, and MIH instruments available from Costco with features similar to ReSound LiNX2 9 products. It replaces the ReSound Sola product line.

Cala is available in two technology levels: 8 and 6. Cala 8 has 17 channels and 9 gain handles, and certain wireless models have premium ear-to-ear communication features such as Binaural Directionality II with Spatial Sense and Binaural Environmental Optimizer II. Cala 6 has 17 channels and 7 gain handles. All wireless models support Made for iPhone (MFi) direct audio streaming.

Cala 8 includes the following models: 312 RIC, 13 RIC, Standard BTE, Power BTE, IIC, CIC, ITC, ITE Half/Full Shell, MIH-S, and MIH. Cala 6 excludes RICs, IIC, and MIHs.

The IIC, CIC, and MIH-S are non-wireless with omnidirectional microphone and size 10 battery. ITC and ITE HS/FS are wireless or non-wireless with directional mics and 312 or 13 battery. MIH is wireless or non-wireless with omni mic and 312 or 13 battery. BTEs are wireless with directional mics and 13 battery. RICs are wireless and directional.

The following models are available with a t-coil: 13 RIC, Standard BTE, Power BTE, ITC, ITE HS/FS, and MIH.

I’ve been wearing the Cala 8 BTE model since mid 2017, using the multi mic that accompanies it quite often. From Costco. I’ve been happy with it…wonderful streaming to Iphone and iPad and to multi mic. Am about to take in for a check, tho as it’s doing some quirky things. Instrument warranty is 3 years, I read. Thanks for this Forum!

The real answer here is try them and see if they do everything you want them to do
