ReSound Alera vs Verso vs Linx TS - 561 vs 761?

I just came back from an appointment with AC Tinnitus, Hyperacusis and Balance Center, Inc. and was recommended Resound Alera, Verso and Linx TS (561 or 761). This would be my very first set of hearing aids. I’m currently 41, but I’ve been dealing with Tinnitus since 1995 due to my younger days as a radio, nightclub and mobile DJ.

The price difference between the Alera TS 561 and the Linx TS 761 is $1,300 (per set). What are the differences, benefits and upgrades? Is the price difference worth the upgrades? How long do these hearing aids suppose to last?

The Alera TS is a really old product, and it’s actually not available as a 561 model. I would recommend that you consider either the Verso 7 TS or the LiNX 7 TS. The LiNX is the newer of the two, and it can stream audio directly from Apple devices without the need for an intermediary device, if that’s something of interest to you.

rasmus_braun, is the only difference between the Verso TS and Linx TS the iPhone integration? Also, what is the difference between the 5 and 7 models? I believe I also saw a newer 9 model and was wondering the differences of that as well.

I recently switched from an iPhone 4S to a the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (running Android) and noticed some GN ReSound apps are available on the Google Play store…

But, I don’t see ReSound actually advertising it as an integrated app like the iPhone. Do you know if this is because the apps are so new? Or, are the apps minimal in their capabilities compared to the iPhone?

The LiNX contains a newer and faster processing chip than the Verso. Higher-end products contain more features which can help you hear better in noisy situations such as restaurants and parties. The ReSound Smart app (used with LiNX) is available for Galaxy S5 right now, but there’s no support for direct audio streaming because the phone doesn’t implement Apple’s proprietary technology.

Hi I’m in UK and have the verso 961? (I believe this may be the last of the verso versions) before the linx. I looked at the original Linx and that gave me very little extra functionality for the price, (especially as the Verso cost me over 3k). However I will be looking at the new Linx (linx2) if and when I can get it over here. For me the verso’s are brilliant (compared to my previous Alers’s) Dont know how subjective this is but I would not go without them. The only problem is having to use a phone clip to connect to my iphone. I have had to change 3 phone clips now due to them getting very crackly. Aleras were my first HA but were limited, The Versos are brilliant as they talk to each other, a big bonus in my game with special awareness. Could definitely do with the extra processing and filtering the new Linx 2 offers,. The Versos can get a bit confused in very noisy (party like) situations
