Reggie’s Phillips Hearlink 9050 Log

Went to Costco today to get fitted for hearing aids after 2 years or battling noticeable loss. For context my entire family seemingly had some degree of hearing loss, I am in my 30s and have moderate loss in high frequencies and pretty bad tinnitus despite no severe auditory trauma in my past (that I can recall). I’ve always tried to be cautious with my hearing but alas….

The fitting went great! At first they put me in a pair of Rexton Reach but the sound felt tinny, almost like it was coming through a broken speaker. She then had me try on a pair of the Phillips 9050 and speech sounded far more natural and clear to my ears. I go to pick them up and do my final fitting/adjustment tomorrow!

I will be keeping this log as an inventory of my own progress and to hopefully to give folks some more insight into the Phillips 9050s. I didn’t do a bunch of research going into this, so advice and guidance from seasoned users is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Keep in mind that all of these hearing aids have a multitude of adjustments. So the hearing care professional (HCP) could have fixed the tiny sound issue.

So don’t give up easily. Worst case, you go the DIY route and spend a week or two getting the hearing aid dialed in.

Note, the Philips hearing aid app has two equalizers that you can use to adjust streaming or your general settings. Your HCP can look at those settings and make adjustments from that information.
